Ok I plan to part the body from the pan on my '63 Beetle and was wondering how many unsuspecting mates I would need to lift the body to a dolly. No
we aren't young bucks anymore (+40) so an idea would be good.

Mate us 40+ plus blokes are stronger than the young ones,so it should only take 2 of you
It can be done by yourself and 1 other on the camera
but i would advise for light work 1 bloke for each corner for your safety.
good to see your nice and OH&S consious there Jace
its amazing how light the bodies are once all the bolt on panels and trim are off
dad and i lifted my old Sbug shell with no real dramas once i stripped it down
A tip Chappo get a bloke for each corner, yes it can be done with less but why bust your guts for no good reason.and then you can get to the beers
quicker.Cheers Les
I used 2 outlaw bikers, those guys are real strong!
I stripped my shell of everything possible and the wife helped me lift it off. And I'm sure she isn't as strong as us 40+ year old blokes.

I did mine by myself (all panels removed but glass in) lifting one end at time and tying it up in the rafters of the garage. Lifting one end at a time it was pretty light. I'd grab 2 mates. you at the front, 2 at the back to keep it steady. maybe leaving the rear bumper on as a handle.Suggest taking the wheels off too, then you dont need to lift so high.
2 guys easy and even easier if you remove guards doors boot bonnet
Thanks fella's for all the advice. Looks like me and 2 mates should be able to handle it easily with one of us doing a hip or hammy.
Not too sure if I could handle it by myself but nice to know it can be done.
