ryana89 - April 3rd, 2010 at 04:12 PM

That reminds me of this 1978 beetle put up for sale in the Feb - April 2010 edition of VWMA. Does anybody on here own this?

jjwebb123 - April 3rd, 2010 at 08:26 PM

yeah sure its in good condition but so are other cars i have seen for $5K.

waveman1500 - April 3rd, 2010 at 10:10 PM

Hmm, yeah, it's a nice 1500 with a sliding metal sunroof but it's LHD and has a non-original 1600cc engine in it. I'm not seeing more than $5k value in it, let alone the extra digit!

tmerivale - April 3rd, 2010 at 10:42 PM

nice looking car but yeah have to agree i think that price was a typo, 5,400 no worries someone would buy it but 54,000... i suppose stranger things have happened but i wouldnt hold my breath for this fella to sell it any time soon.

Senario.... The guys getting divorsed and his ex said he must sell the Bug but he loves the car and says OK so puts it up for a rediculous price so it wont sell .but if he finds a gulable person and makes a sale BINGO off to the Carabean for some R and R with the native girls untill all the moneys gone.

This reminds me of a bloke who owned a Volvo 240 with a 302ci Ford V8 in it. He loved it, but his wife/girlfriend insisted that it had to go. Hence he placed it in the Trading Post for $50k advertised for the next several months.

ryana89 - April 5th, 2010 at 01:58 PM

Just got an email back from the seller (George I beleive) asking about if the price of $54,000 is right or not.

"Hi Ryan,
That's what I'm looking for.....
It's been in storage for about the past ten years, before then when I took it for an occasional spin, I used to find a note on it when left in a car park asking if I was interested in selling it, its a rarity with the factory sunroof and padded dash, looks better than the photos given that its forty two years old.
When I show it around people are amazed how the doors shut with a nice clunk with little effort ( you have to have the windows down as the rubber seals prevent the doors shutting if they are closed)."

His intentions are innocent enough and he sounds like a decent guy, possibly just a bit optomistic;)

dreamin..

Nickster - April 6th, 2010 at 10:55 AM

never gonna happen.... he obviously did zero research before placing his advert.

Someone needs to whack him with a wet fish and wake the fool up!
