Just wondering if anyone knows of or has had any dealing with shipping from the states. i am chasing a part for my bike and have found the part i want in America but they want 350 + for shipping. its a single seat unit for my bike so its is as light as and not that big( i have requested dimentions from the company i am buying from)

There must be a cheaper way to get it here.

any ideas ???

I have found USPS (US Postal Service) the cheapest to use. I had a 12kg box of parts about the size of a slab of beer sent over by USPS and it cost $150.

yeah 350 sounds like a rip if one place has it im sure others do too and they wont be that expensive. I order stuff all the time, i have had a beetle nose and rear brought from the states.

I have shipped a few cars from the states to Melbourne through a buddy of mine who has an exporting business in Carson CA, I get all my parts and motors sent there and when a container is full (with everyones items) it gets sent on its way, cheap as chips!! probably a third of what you have been quoted, I had a solid billet Harley wheel land for $80, but there could have been a bit of mates rates involved, its got to a stage where I dont even ask for a quote, He looks after all his customers, but is VERY strict on paperwork re customs declarations etc, items must be clean, engines drained of all fluids, copy of ebay transactions & payments, no bullshiting of prices you paid for item and all will be well. I will need his permission to forward his contact details to you if you or any members of this site require them. cheers Frank

Ive got a dirt bike seat on order at the moment, $65 USPS and should be here in a week. If you go to the USPS website they have a pretty easy to use postage calculator for International air freight.

Hi
Many companies in the USA don't want to sell outside the USA... so charge huge freight rates...

I found CIP1 and CB Performance seem to charge high rates..

I just bought a New Bosch Distributor with Pertronix kit and 20 oil change gasket kits
3lbs weight for $41-71US via US Postal Service.. [insured too]

I once tried to buy 4 small stickers from a company in the USA
the stickers could be placed in an ordinary envelope and posted for about $3US...
but they wanted $25 to package and post them....

Ask them if they can POST it to you Via US Postal Service...

NOT DHL or UPS etc...

best of Luck

Lee
