Yesterday when Fleur was coming home on the Eastern Fwy, one of the tailpipes decided to eject from the back of the Beetle.
Not only did the car sound (as she put it) "like her brother Jeremy's rotary RX4", but the pipe hit the windscreen of a following
car!!!!!
So now it is going to cost me $40 bucks for tailpipes (will get two with new clamps}, but also $150 for the guys window. He was cool about it, as it
was an old dunga '81 XD he was just glad no-one was hurt. :cry
I'm glad that no one was hurt! And realistically, you're so lucky it wasn't one of the new metal laminate windscreens that costs a bomb
for a new one
Andrew
I think what Andrew is trying to say is lucky it was an XD!
Thats why they are called pea shooters.
Atleast you know her motor has plenty of compression.Man make sure you tighten those clamps before she goes on a VW cruise.
You gotta admit its a great solution to tailgaters!
I had a Tail Pipe fall of my Beetle once on the Adelaide hills. So Herbie ran it over and the Dude behind him stopped to pick up.
When he gave it back to me he also showed me the Burn he got from it.
hahaha :P
(remember that Herbie)
Got the new tailpipes. They are better ones, they are German, the other ones were Brazil and rusty after 12 months.
It sounds different now, a little louder, yet deeper. The chirp chirp that was present at some revs is now gone.
hehehehe its the new military beetle with tail pipe launchers
couldnt you just offer to buy the falcon off him for $100?
save you
$50 heheh
I have always lived in fear of that happening!!!!!:cry
I lost a tailpipe from the 1500 Beetle recently, but mine shook itself off on a really rough dirt road. I settled on the cheap $15 replacement and
used the old clamp.
I'm curious though, Helbus, what are the German tips worth? (if you don't mind saying)
Helbus,
That sucks. At least no got hurt.
I still remember you were just telling me
how your tailpipes just got pushed in without clamps...
Ron
