Not happy.
I ordered some parts from Classic Vee-Dub a week ago. I received an automated order confirmation.
They STILL have not charged my credit card for the parts, nor have the parts arrived.
Sent them e-mails twice last week, no answer. Tried to call them and the phone is constantly engaged.
Is this simply typical of their service, or is there something going on???
Can anyone recommend an alternative supplier of front kick-panel speaker pods for beetles. I've run out of patience.
Cheers,
Brett,
Hi Brett,
I've has similar experiences with Classic Vee Dubs, and I have called in the past. George doesn't like to charge for parts that he has on back order
or has to order in, so he usually waits until he has the complete order before charging it to your credit card.
It can be frustrating, but he has always been very accommodating over the phone - which yes, is just about always engaged.
Here is a good US site http://www2.cip1.com/ but you may be waiting a bit longer for the
shipping.
The least he could do is inform me if there is a hold up. He has my mobile, work phone and e-mail address.
It's not like I haven't made any attempt to contact him either. I've tried to call them at least ten times today and it's engaged every time.
I've checked the phone number is correct three times, so I'm confident I haven't mis-dialled.
I wanted to fit the parts this weekend. It looks like that is unlikely.
Cheers,
I ordered my speaker panels from classic. havent fitted them yet :S but yes i agree not the best service
This happens in busy shops I'm affraid to say, I know exactly what you mean. I also see it from both sides, (Classic is seemingly ALWAYS engaged) but his service is generally good.
ha you think thats bad two years ago i drove 200 ks to go there even rang two days before (yea mate im open)
what what do you think happened when i got there
anyways if you have probs just go else were
there are heaps of great vw shops
there are a few of these threads around !
yeah I have had good n not so good experiences but overall it's been pretty good with George
hang in there
I've had good and bad from Classic but always had good from Mick motors. At the moment though I've been waiting about 6 weeks for a double relay from Bosch and this morning I was told I've got to wait at least another two weeks!!! So in this bloody cold weather I have to use the buggy for work
still waiting for the good???? M
just remember this is a public forum, but yes our experience has been quite bad and as such use micks motors for everything, good service and they get it to darwin in half the time as anywhere else so far
George runs 2 companies, which is why he can do parts as cheap as he can. I'm not saying he's perfect, no one is, but he set the shop up to give the scene the best prices available. That cannot be said for some of the other shops. Be patient.
That's a bugger about your parts and no contact. Maybe listen to what others have said about him taking the money out of your account etc.
I for one have been very happy with George, but I have the luxury of being able to drive there and buy parts. George has been more than helpful,
ordered parts and I only pay once they arrive. He has exchanged things and even returned my money when I stuffed up and grabbed the wrong thing (in
stock stuff).
I am only giving another side to the story and personally don't care where you buy your parts from. As others said, if you are not happy go and buy
elsewhere.
I just don't think we should turn this site into an attacking of ones business and I'm sure there could be some liabilities re this. I fully
understand what you and others have mentioned of similar things and are pissed off. And I'm sure you are not meaning to attack his business and stop
others from going there, but this is what could be perceived.
Try calling him again and explain what you have said on here. If that doesn't work, send him an email canceling your items and tell him why and then
buy elsewhere.
Good luck with it, Kev
I finally got onto George a few mins ago. One of the items I ordered was out of stock, but will be in tomorrow. He reckons I should have the parts
by the weekend. So I will go through with the purchase. I politely expressed my dissatisfaction with the lack of response, and we ended the call on
good terms.
I'm not trying to damage anyone's business, far from it. I just want my parts, or to know why they are delayed. I don't think that's too much to
ask.
I actually feared they had closed down or something. On a forum like this is sometimes the only way to find out news like that. It's happened to me
before.
In the world of Minis I know who to deal with and who to not use unless I'm desperate. But with VW's I'm a noob. If a delay like this is normal,
then that would be something I need to factor into any future purchases.
To give you an idea, I order my most of my parts for my Mini and Moke from one place. They are not always the cheapest. But I can order online with
them, they usually have what I want in stock, or they tell me within a few business hours if they don't. Often I have ordered parts form them and had
them in my hand well within 24 hours. Now that's what I call service.
Cheers,
Hi Brett,
Good to hear you spoke with George.
I didn't mean that you were directly attacking his store and you were just concerned about your parts, I just thought others may alter their ways
with what was being said throughout this thread.
I have spent a few thousand dollars with George, but still buy stuff from overseas. CIP1 are great and the fastest transport ever. I can get things
quicker from them, than my mate can get a Holden part from Melbourne. Had things arrive in 4 working days after ordering.
Hope you see your parts soon and all the best with your car.
Cheers, Kevin
Camo is totally right and as pauld mentioned this is a public forum. But i too fully understand your frustration.
I have only had one encounter with George,i ordered around $500 dollars worth of parts(Cant remember what they were)
they never arrived contacted him and he said they were sent.2 sets of parts were sent, and after around 2 months of
waiting, our money was refunded and the parts were never seen. But i
understand that owning a business of that nature
would be very undertaking and things do go wrong.i wish he would use his email tho,i really like alot of the stock that he holds.makes it hard not
being able to travel down and have a look for your self.
I on a regular basis now, i order everything from micks motors, mick and I
know each other on a first name basis.I can order over email,(which suits my work hours),the delivery is terrific, and prices are
quite good.Although i have only spoken over email,i have found mick motors to be a very helpful and reliable business.
Glad you worked it all out brett.

Gave Micks a go and they bombed out on me twice. Went to george at classic to give him a go and we've spent around $4,800 there with only one hick
up. That was with a faulty item. Got onto him next day and had the new part the day after.
George might be hard to get hold of, but he's always willing to go the extra mile to help you out.
Lee, it's the double relay for the factory FI, already tried Micks though. Plus when I first came to Oz I used to work at Geebung just around the corner from Micks and used to pop in there from time to time, that was 22 years ago now, I moved to Noosa 17 years ago. When my sister brought the cabriolet over from the US (about 10 years ago) she had to take it to Micks for something, they must have had thousands of customers in there in the intervening time but Micks' wife said " do you have a brother that owns a buggy" Now I know there can't be too many tall good looking blond Londoners around but even though she remembered me
"it's the double relay for the factory FI"
Just go to a wreckers and get one out of a FI car. I know I have one for my Subaru motor, so I am guessing they all have them. Just an idea....
Buy from the US mate, its cheaper and a lot quicker.
Save yaself the hassle and agro that local companies seem to thrive on
^ and then not be able to source anything locally at all when the businesses die... yeah, not such a good idea.
and it might be cheaper, but they get you on the shipping. been there done that.
The parcel arrived ten minutes ago, on the day promised when I finally spoke to George. So it's all good now.
Cheers,
So all up it took 11-12 days from point of contact, placing the order, and then having them arrive? That's pretty good service really init? Glad they arrived ok. George is a pretty good, well meaning bloke.

Try getting that sort of service here.

These delivery times remind me of a time my mate needed a clutch and preasure plate for his Dato 1600 (fastest dato 1600 in Oz at the time), needed it for an event in Sydney the next Saturday but couldn't get it from Melbourne in time, Sent a telegram Monday lunch time (it was a long time ago, go and ask ya mum what a telegram was) to nipon land and had it in Oz Thursday morning.
