Gotta love retirees. My father, an ABC man through and through, tipped me off that on Friday night on the Collectors program there will be a segment
on VWs.
Program site here:
http://www.abc.net.au/tv/collectors/
The precis is:
"This collection of vintage VWs is extremely rare. The 1944 military models (a Kubelwagen and a Schwimmwagen) are two of only about a dozen left in
the world. The 1954 Cabriolet is also rare, and the Kombi is the only existing example of the first series imported into Australia."
Yes,
saw this advertised tonite...
Hope they show a lot of VWs...
not sure whether there was a Hebmuller there...?
LEE
Is that Ray Black's collection? Can't be too many Kubelwagens and Schwimmwagens in Australia...

Sounds like Ray Black.

Yes
He was dismissed that day....
I thought that would have been the end of the show..??
LEE
Are they still going to broadcast this show?, heard about that Hubmueller, facts of the story are a bit hazy after all these years but apparently the owner of the Hubmueller had ripped someone of with the purchase and was the reason not scene around.....gone to ground, like i said story was from a while ago....could be just a nasty rumour
Yes,
I've seen it advertised on the ABC twice....

Kevin
Hi missed Friday night went out it is also on monday night at 6pm on abc 2 I will tape it
An aust registered schwimmwagon! that was so kool!
Bet he wouldn't dare drive it through a puddle though. it was immaculate.
The guy is Ray Black from Sydney.
The Schwimmer has been in the water here in OZ but only one time as best as I know.
One Sunday morning Ray took the vehicle up to the Hawkesbury River near Windsor and went for a cruise for about 10 minutes. I still have the picture
somewhere of him cruising down the river at 8 knots. There were three of us there to witness the event.
It floated, it motored and it did not take in any water.
It still has to be one of the best Schwimmers in the world today so one would not expect it to spend alot of time in the water.
