Removing tailpipes
sander288 - July 12th, 2010 at 12:11 PM

If I was to remove the tail pipes from my standard exhaust, It would be alot louder, but would it harm the engine or affect the tune/performace?

Lots louder also heat could be an issue, i always liked Zoom tubes instead of the pea shooters.

It is alot louder like alot louder. And i think you would end up with like a soot on your rear valance.

It wont hurt performance but as the others said it will be loud and burn the paint off

I had some big unbaffled taper tips on mine going way back
which sounds the same as having none but wont burn the paint off

gives a deep throaty note

good thinking, I didn't even think of the ol' zoom tube! they don't cost much either which is nice

Na they are cheap , sligt increase in performance and cheap to boot!

When one of my tailpipes fell out I found that it backfired a lot and spat flames on the over-run. I'm not sure whether it would do this with both missing or not, but it definitely attracted attention! And yes, it will be much louder.
