Seats to fit bug seat rails
t_tuffnut - July 13th, 2010 at 09:25 AM

Hi all,

Does anyone know of any front seats from other make/model cars that will fit straight onto the seat rails in a bug, specifically a 66?

I am just toying with the idea of getting into something with a bit more support, but I'm not keen on the idea of ripping up the seat mount rails or pulling the slides off my current seats.

Hi

You wont find anything that will bolt in, what you need to do is find a pair of Beetle seat bases and graft the other seats to them.

I put Honda Prelude seats in my sons bug, they are very comfortable and are not too big fit in a bug, if your going to Valla I can show you how they fitted etc.

When I had red I found some seat bases, hard do to at times, and the first set were from a Suzuki Jimmy then I got hold of a set of Commodore SS seats with all the support etc and after a long search found another set of seat bases and had them fitted properly and they were great for support etc. I could actually sit in them and not on them and when going around corners at light speed stayed planted in the seat.

also you can remove seats from hondas and other small and low base seats with the slides as most are bolted in so easy to refit to your bug ,i have found the seat hight is the main problem to overcome as get it wrong and your legs may not get under the steering wheel

scat (or some joint venture) make seat adapters for almost every model to fit what ever model of bucket seat you buy from them. Guessing that other bucket seat will work with the adapters with minimal or no mods required.

They even supposedly make em for type 3 as well. woot. :spin:

and their seats and stuff.

Thanks for the links and advice. The scat stuff looks awesome. It is like the effect I want eventually, so I'm probably better saving up the cash for that.

Cheers.

Nearly bought a set of these, they were the only ones I could find (other that MX5 as it turned out) that would fit into my buggy.
I've seen them in the flesh, damned nice seats :tu:
