Beetles in new Racing Game
t_tuffnut - July 22nd, 2010 at 06:26 AM

I've been interested in a new racing game, called Blur, since I saw a split second glimpse of a baja bug in a teaser trailer.

The game has now been released, and it actually has two styles of beetle in the game an early split rear screen rat and the same car in baja form.

It also has a few scirrocos and golfs in there too, including the insane GTI prototype they released a few years back, with the huge guards and rims - W12? W16? something like that.

Also, a heap of other auto erotica.

The game play is a mixture of need for speed and Mario cart, racing around, picking up boosters to knock opponents out of the race.

There is a free multi player download on Playstation Store at the moment. Not sure if it is on Xbox, but I know for sure it is on PS3. No beetles in it though there is a scirrocco.

Here is a link with video of every car in the game.

I'll be picking up my copy soon - probably cause I can't drive my actual beetle just yet. Some would say that the time wasted would be better spent getting the real thing ready, but my garage is really cold at the moment!

Just found another video of the beetle in action

Interesting. We had a VW club Playstation challenge night many years ago, using TOCA 1 on PS1s (driving the Audi 80 at Bathurst as there are no VWs on that game). David Carter won the trophy. This sounds like a candidate for a possible new challenge.

Yes I remember the Golf W12 with 485 kW...

bought it for my sons (and me:lol:) just a couple of weeks ago.....great fun!

You can have 4 players on at once (great on the 50" plasma!)

if you are into racing games, get a few mates around, rent it from the video store and have a few laughs!

Thats the one Phil.

The video game racing challenge is a great idea. My dad runs a portable drive in movies company and the other day he did a 21st for a fella that requested a Wii be hooked up to it. Apparently it worked really well and the interactivity on a 4m x 3m screen was excellent.

Today is cheapie thursday at the video shop - great idea Paul!
