Wanted Dead or Alive
Casper - July 18th, 2003 at 09:02 PM

The person who stole my white leather spare wheel cover (lovingly made by my wife) from Bert the (Blue & White Bay Kombie Camper) from the Cannon Hill Shopping Centre 17.7.03. If you see it or know someone who has recently acquired one I would like to know.

A bit of Bad Luck Old Mate...
Its Bad when VW people steal from other VW owners, or maybe it was just stolen to sell for money and nothing (I hope) to do with another VW owner... until someone unwittingly buys it.....
I'll bet it wasn't easy to Make either..

VW owners/people don't steal from one another. We're a loyal lot and we look after each other. They probably thought, 'that's just too nice and if I can't have it, then neither can you'.
I had a beautifully painted Beetle a few years ago, painted from that burn Orange colour (yuck) to an electric dark blue and it was sitting at a Hobart supermarket and some prick scratched with a coin or key, 'f^#k you', down the side of the car. They just couldn't stand that someone had a nice looking car. :cry
Yes, it does make you mad sometimes.

Hi man
Bad news, I know what it's like to have something stolen from my bus, my badge went at the Tweed shopping center carpark!
By the sounds of it, seeing how your wife made it for you, it would be one of a kind, give us an exact description of the cover, stiching colour, piping colour, any marks ECT and rest assured we on the forum will all be looking for it.
I hope we can get it back for you!
Rob.....

im guessing the spare wheel cover will fit other types of wheels, that said, someone probably thought it would look nice on their shi**y non-vw rustbox and took it.

Hopefully they are stupid enough to place it somewhere that it is visible for all to see. Karma will get back to them in the end and i hope they feel rightly miserable for stealing someone elses stuff.:mad:

Any distinguishing features so we can keep an eye out or is it just white ?. Probably on some 4WD.

KruizinKombi - July 19th, 2003 at 06:02 PM

Other than older 4x4's, I don't think that there are a lot of cars with a steering wheel the same size as a kombi, so the chances are that it could have been another VW owner, heaven forbid.

Either way, its a low act. :(

I recently had a couple of dents put in the back of my bug while parked outside a party. It's just another one of those pointless things that stupid people do. :puke

Thanks guys for the sympathy, I would not think that another VW owner would do this low act and in fact think it was stolen for a caravan, as there was a caravan park next door to work. Cover was plain white but would only fit a 14" wheel. Had a single row of top stitching around top edge. :cry

Dont suppose you have a picture, how was it held on, did it have elastic, or was it tied and did it have any piping on the seams. I will be traveling to WA next week, will keep an eye out for it, if I find it I will get it back!
