Ethanol is alcohol. its the 'germ killer' in ur mouth wash :tu:, and the prime ingredient in metholated spirits + in the beer and spirits you drink.

Its more friendly to use then domestos

And coolant is Ethylene Glycol not just straight glycol, and coolant is toxic! but there are many glycol combos...

As Chris said. Ethanol is known as alcohol.

E85 is like running your car on moonshine.

Methylated spirits is Ethanol, which is known as alcohol. It has a small amount of methanol and spewy tasting agents to make it undrinkable. It really is a good cleaning agent.

E85 is also undrinkable due to the petroleum added.

ethanol is about the only drinkable alcohol
until you drink too much..

in addition to other's note on metho:
methanol is added because boiling point is close to ethanol
to make it harder to separate the mixture.

Ethanol has been with us since ancient man first learned to ferment sugars into alcohol using yeast. Hooray!

I drank some amber-coloured fluid with my dinner tonight that was around 4.6% ethanol. The Bundy and cola I'm sipping as I type this has a bit more, 6.5% according to the can.

Methanol ('wood alcohol') is the simplest member of the alcohol family (any organic compound with an 'OH' hydroxyl added to it). Methanol is CH3OH - it is poisonous to drink. The next one is ethanol (grain alcohol) - C2H5OH - the alcohol we drink and love. You can keep going by adding more CH2 chains to the molecule. C5H11OH for example is Pentanol (Amyl alcohol) - an industrial alcohol used to make acetylene, ethylene and propylene. You can also have alcohols with more than one OH string, such as ethylene glycol (C2H4(OH)2), and glycerine (C3H5(OH)2).

"Methanol is CH3OH - it is poisonous to drink"................... Now you tell me after sipping on some with a bit of nitromethane to give it a bit more kick! :starhit: Been using it for years and it does numb the lips a bit if you get a drop on them! The castor oil does tame it a little though!
