Lee,

I believe Club Vee Dub have one in their club tools if you are a member there.

Matt from Port Macquarie also has one. If you can get hold of him (PM me if you need his phone number) and it is OK, I could bring it down to Beresfield tomorrow (Sunday) night if that is any help. I will be there all week 'till Saturday afternoon.

This is a drawing of some simple one Lee. Requires door off and hinge held firmly in a good vise.

Jeff. Did Matt get one that works? We made one from a drawing someone had a few years back but not sure if he got it to work. I have the body of another one here but needs the bolt and pin to complete. I'll have a look tomorrow as well and see what it needs to complete. I think it really needed a stabilising handle welded on as well.

Lee,

Will send tool with Jeff if you like, unless you really want to do a trip to Port.

Dallas,

I couldn't get that one to work a few years ago, ended up snapping it. Then I bought one off a guy on the Samba.

Oops - checked my PM before I came on here. I gave Lee your phone number Matt, but it sounds like I am best to organise to pick it up today. Probably won't be untill this afternoon - I have to give the bug it's 570,000 km service this morning.

Don't worry Jeff,

I'll drop it around in an hour or two.

Regards,

Matt.

Thought there was some problem with that design Matt. Not sure where we got those drawings from back then. I had a look at the other one still here but it doesn't fit the Type 3s as they have to push down from the top so the screw hits the curve on the door.

The simple type for the type 3s is off The Samba and is a VW tool designed to be just driven with a hammer. Does a Bug require a certain way to remove/replace, that is, top to centre/bottom to centre?

I heard of someone that welded a small rod to a broken air hammer bit and it supposedly worked really well.
