For the 2nd time in 5 years I have to work the weekend. But its Bathurst weekend! I could potentially watch it on my lappy if I got one a usb tv
tuner.
Does anyone have a usb tuner? Do they work? Howcome at home I need a bigarse arial on the roof but only a tiny thing on the desk? Cant help but be a
sceptic.
My old man uses one while caravaning. Reckons it's great......reception nearly everywhere they need it, good picture etc etc..
I have to admit I'm like you Chris, a little skeptical.

yes usb tuner are good but depends on which one.
Compro is the best brand imo. Winfast are good but don't use their own software.
Also I have used an Asus tuner and it worked great too.
Vlado1 if compro is the way to go then what model would you suggest?
MSY have them for about $40...
and generally from experience being a customer with them and from what i've heard... msy customer service isn't the best but their price kinda are
lol
you still need antenna for the usb one but it doesn't have to be big ass one coz you'd be buying one that pick up digital broadcast rather than
analog

I bought one (actually two), the brand is Kaiser TVStick. Tried one out and although it loads easily and such, it won't find any stations for me. I
returned the second one unopened.
I live out of town a bit and the paperwork recommends that I could use a cable connection from the USB doobrie to my house antenna connection to try
for better reception (or any reception in my case). If I am going to run another antenna cable across the house I may as well stick a TV on the
end....
Jury still out.

look like a slighlty large usb thumb drive Lee.
After reading about them online I got a Leadtek Gold from Officeworks. $50. I got it home and I was pretty distressed. The little aerial wasnt picking
up anything. Not even if I went outside. I had to plug it into the external arial of the main tv to get it to work. But great news, I'm at work now
and it is perfect!
Dual tuner, watch one channel while recording another, timeshift.... paid a fortune for an LG PVR without a tuner a couple of years back!
im with you lee did'nt know anything about these things do now isnt the 21century a good thing

I use the Miglia USB version for my Mac. ok ok you mac-phobes out there can stop boo-ing now !
It came with a little stump that resembled an aerial - but reception is pretty poor with it.
I need to plug it into my main aerial to get anything, or sometimes i use an old set of 'rabbit' ears.
Reception varies from place to place, so sometimes they work, other times they don't.
When they do work, they are a godsend and are worth their weight in gold.
(especially if you only have one TV and ur other half hogs the remote !)
