vw alternator (brand new) $5-15 US ea. & weber 40idf new replicas $30USD!
bajachris88 - October 8th, 2010 at 11:37 PM

I have found a website for direct trading with the manufacturers. For products of relatively small value, they require bulk orders.

Another listing for a vw alternator on here (with POA) required a minimum of 10 to be ordered at once.

This direct from a china manufacturer: $5-$15 USD with a minimum order of 100 units:

It doesn't ask for an ABN to join up, only a business name and funds tranfer is through wiring the money half the time.

I haven't done any transaction but made an inquiry on a new set of struts for the ricer.

anywho, the orders are massive, but u save big bux. if a large organisation like a club wanted to extend savings to the members, this wouldn't be a bad way to go.

There are 44 pages of listings under 'volkswagen beetle' alone, and not all of them are from chinese suppliers. Quality is always a concern, but maybe they have guarantees etc. Just goes to show how much the middle men make out of it, although they need to make a livelyhood and pay for freight and store running costs inbetween. Its just not all of us can afford alot bux here and there at once.

However it is interesting how nearly everything is made in china these days...

I'm not aware! What happened? I can't afford to loose money by trading with scum.

Prices sound really, really good! My brother often buys parts (not automotive) from china direct from manufacturers and usually doesn't have quality issues however communication is a bit tricky. Guarentees/Warrenty are not the easiest to claim or worth it because of the cost of shipping. But with the cheap prices, you can always order a few extra parts just in case.

Imagine if a big bunch of forum members grouped together to make some orders, specially with the great USD at the moment. We would have enough parts for the next 50 years!
