OK....
Occasionally we have to upgrade the Threads.
It happends...
It a pain.. but it happends.

The underlying cause is a bad version of mysql. It corrupts itself ... regularly, requiring manual intervention. We do that through typing in a command in the Administration panel which fixes it up.

The only solution is to see if later versions of mysql do not suffer from this problem. Unfortunately, we are at the mercy of our hoster in upgrading the version of mysql, and there's only a small incremental upgrade available, which apparently does not fix the issue.

This mysql bug affects all BBS / forum software that does a lot of queries. XMB is tied to mysql, which is a pain in the rear, but phpBB can run on a variety of RDBMS, so maybe we might look at moving to postgres once we're off XMB.

Cool no worries, thought it may have been something at my end!
Not winging about you guys or the forum, just curious to find out what it was that was causing it. As was mentioned before, to long without a fix and I start to suffer bad man! Its Ok now, returning to normal function, sweating and convoltions dissapereing.

Are the posts on the "new" and "old" forum linked? I couldn't recognise any of the topics on the new forum.

tazz is right - they're currently not linked

When the upgrade goes through, there will be some linkage, I think.

But after that, XMB will disappear. I'll post more at the time.
