So it's time to start gathering parts for the 1500 bug that I've recently purchased.
I've heard that Wolfsburg West are making some very nice floor pans at the moment. Since I already know that I have to replace atleast the left side
I was thinking of buying these, what with the Aussie/US dollar being the way it is at the moment.
I've also read on here that Australian Chasis numbers don't relate to US or Europe.
and wolfsburg don't list a 1500 bug as a specific part.
So,.. Are the floor pans of a Australian 68/69 1500 bug the same as an earlier Aussie 60's bug??? and therefore are the early aussie 60's bugs the
same as early US 60's bug.
The other panel I have to buy is the spare wheel well bottom. Does anyone know of a good maker for this section?

The 1500 Beetle was sold in Australia from 1968-1970, same as the USA. Theirs were fully German-built and imported; ours were German CKD kits
assembled, painted and finished in Melbourne with some local content.
The floorpans are the same - EXCEPT ours are RHD. If you order their US '58-'70 floorpan floors they will fit fine shape-wise, but the thick tapped
plate for the pedals will be on the wrong side. You'll have to change the right-side so it looks the same as your existing Aussie one. You'll also
have to add an accelerator hinge plate to the RHD side, so there's a bit of work to do first.

I recently had a LH pan replaced in my 65 beetle, I had a guy do it and his work was awesome! He is Anthony Walker and he is a custom fabricator based in Bomaderry NSW...I highly recommend him! And very reasonably priced!
