Manx Club
matberry - December 19th, 2010 at 10:56 PM

I've tried for about the fourth time to join the Manx Buggy Club. Well, what the......is going on there????

You can't join the forum without being in the club.

You can't join the club without downloading the form from the forum site.

You can't download from the site without being a member.

Can anyone guess where this is going...........deadend.

I even had Brad ask me to join years ago, I wrote an article for the magazine...but ...never saw the membership application that was offered to me.......

Sounds too hard, but I would love to go on runs with them, esp when up the beach our way........

Anyone can get the Manx Club to send me an application form, my email is donmatboat@yahoo.com.au

:)

Smiley - December 19th, 2010 at 11:41 PM

I just tried to get the form for you but the link says error can't be found.

You don't have to be a member of the club to join the forum, I am on the forum but am not yet a financial member.

I'll will PM Brad and get him onto this for you.

You can't have a Baja as beastly as yours and not be let in the Manxclub!

Matt,

I have emailed you a Member ship Form.

You have to Join the forum to download, but anyone can join the forum and you do not need to be a Club Member to do so.

Once you have joined the forum you can download the form. It is to stop spammers.

All that being said the link was wrong and has now been fixed.

matberry - December 20th, 2010 at 07:13 AM

Thanks Smiley and Brad.

Hopefully I'll be a paid up member for 2011. :)

I would also like to find out why you can't sign up so I can help other people who have issues.

As for cookies:-

You will need to be able to accept cookies.

If you are using IE6

Goto Internet Options ->Privacy and set the slide bar to medium.

If you are using Firefox

Go to Tools -> Options and tick accept cookies from sites.

Let me know how you go.

matberry - December 20th, 2010 at 12:05 PM

Well still no good for me

I'm using IE but which one ?? I've got Windows Vista Home Premium with AVG 2011 protection. I set Privacy to 'medium' as above, it was on 'medium-high' and restarted the computer. Tried again to Register on the Manx Forum and NO GO :td: :( bloody elitists. :D

11CAB - December 20th, 2010 at 05:18 PM

Not sure why you are having problems getting on the forum, but we are happy to have any offroad based VW's on there , not just Manxes

Lovebuggy - December 20th, 2010 at 10:27 PM

Hey Matt,

Can you try this and let me know if it works. It is for IE8 (you can confirm by clicking help - >about)

Open Internet Explorer (only one Internet Explorer window can be open)

· Click Tools

· Click Internet Options

· Click the Advanced tab

· Click Reset…

· Click Reset

· Click Close

· Click OK

· Close Internet Explorer

· Open Internet Explorer

Internet Explorer has now been reset.

· Click Tools

· Click Internet Options

· Click the Security tab

· Click Trusted sites

· Click Sites

· Remove any manxclub.org or similar sites from the list

· Click Close

· Click the Privacy tab

· The slider should be at Medium (if not change it to there)

· Click OK

· Try to log into manxclub.org (note that www is deliberately not included).

· If unsuccessful return to the Privacy tab and slide the slider down to Low

· Click OK

· Close Internet Explorer

· Open Internet Explorer

· Try to log into manxclub.org

· If unsuccessful return to the Privacy tab and slide the slider down to Accept All Cookies

· Click OK

· Close Internet Explorer

· Open Internet Explorer

· Try to log into manxclub.org

Lovebuggy - December 20th, 2010 at 10:57 PM

also check that your system clock is set correctly - This is another known issue that can cause cookie issues.

beachbuggy61 - December 21st, 2010 at 08:25 AM

I'm joining the list of people who can't get onto the site to join up.

All I get is an error message when I try to download a form. I also tried the 'contact us' facility and it ended up giving me an error message too!

My cookies are enabled.... that sounds kinda strange I know :-)

Can anyone email me a form and I'll go from there.

Many thanks, Marc.

matberry - December 21st, 2010 at 08:25 AM

Thanks for your help Lovebuggy. Unfortunately still no good. I'm on IE7, with no listed sites in the untrusted security section, privacy now set to accept all cookies, clock has been a day out since I can't remember so now is set correctly date and time is within a minute or so.

Any other idea's..........:(

Lovebuggy - December 21st, 2010 at 08:29 AM

Hi Marc,

Are you able to register on the site?

What Operating system are you running and what version of browser do you use (e.g, XP with IE6, Windows 7 with IE8, Vista with Firefox, etc)?

matberry - December 21st, 2010 at 08:37 AM

Manx forum better be good.

Am glad to see I'm def not the only one with this problem. I've been trying to join for YEARS

For the Manx Club form, Brad emailed me one, payment has been sent and form mailed.....the old way. :)

Once a member the forum won't be any different so we'll need this sorted.

beachbuggy61 - December 21st, 2010 at 09:02 AM

Hi Lovebuggy,

I'm on IE8 with Windows XP professional

Was not able to do anything on the site. Just tried again to register with the forum and got the big blue ERROR band across the screen.

Frustrating :)

Lovebuggy - December 21st, 2010 at 09:35 AM

Marc,

Can you try running in compatibilty mode for the manxclub site?

beachbuggy61 - December 21st, 2010 at 12:55 PM

Tried compatibility mode and still got the error messages.......:(

Lovebuggy - December 21st, 2010 at 01:47 PM

Do you run any extra security software - nortons, zone alarm, etc

Can you try and turn the firewalls off and try that with privacy setting set to low?

Any chance you could try with mozilla firefox to see if that also has the issue?

beachbuggy61 - December 21st, 2010 at 02:03 PM

Yes I do. It's a work laptop so it has all the bells and whistles in terms of security and I'm not permitted to download firefox

Security settings are set so it looks like I won't be able to go to the manx site?

Can a membership form be emailed and I can send it by snail-mail to join? That way I can hopefully be a part of the Fraser run next year!

Cheers,
Marc

Lovebuggy - December 21st, 2010 at 03:29 PM

Pm me your email and I will send you one. It would be worth persueing getting on to the forum as there is a lot of cool content and builds on there and it will definatley maximise your membership experience.

If you are interested in Fraser you may wish to book now. There are about 7 of the 34 spots left in the houses. Let me know and i will send you more info.

BlueV2 - December 22nd, 2010 at 12:46 PM

Are you trying to do this from your work, or from home using your work computer ?

After reading this forum I decided to give it ago, and attempt to join AGAIN. I use Firefox and well after numerous attempts changing and reseting settings Im in. And it accepted my application on the same settings as when I first couldnt get in. Go figure. Definately a problem with the system which needs to be fixed if they want more members. Good luck to anyone else.

What were your final settings/steps to get in?

I don't think this is a forum issue - it is a Microsoft issue. There are plenty of similar stories on the web with regards to the cookie issue.

As I have Firefox I went into tools, then options, then privacy. checked to see if accepting cookies was selected (which it was). I then de selected everything one at a time and kept tyring to log into the site. when I had tried all options, I reset and just for giggles tried again and it accepted me. what ever the issue is or was, it is definately stopping alot of people joining.

11CAB - December 22nd, 2010 at 09:42 PM

Now that you're in, make sure you have a good look around and contribute as well..... The ManxClub Forum has over 500 members, but most are only lurkers. You only get out what you put in.

matberry - December 24th, 2010 at 08:08 AM

Well I'd still like to join !!!!

beachbuggy61 - December 24th, 2010 at 09:59 AM

matberry, I've now got a membership form sent to me from Ben in the Manx club. If you like I can email it to you.

Jsut send me an email at marccalwell@kennards.com.au and I'll reply it.

Marc
