I may be onto a split window bug , not sure of the year solid with minimal rust, anyone know what it is possibly worth?

Dude they are worth heaps, but i would make sure b4 buying it, that it is complete! they are almost imposible to find good parts for! An unmollested one would go for 10K+

I would suggest that it is worth what you are willing to pay for it.
If you are buying to sell on and make a profit then it will be worth then thsi is a different question.

If you buy with the intention of restoring then it has a different price again as emotion comes into it

Another subject I grow weary of as the answer is always the same.

It's worth somewhere between what the guy wants & how much you want to give him.......

It never ceases to amaze me what people try to ask for older cars sometimes. I understand that a split beetle is different.

I went and had a look at a 40 year old Holden today for a friend that was advertised for $3500.

My friend was only planning on spending $2000, but I assured him if it was a really good car, then the money would be worth spending now rather than in restoration.

The car was junk I said to make an offer of no more than $1500. The owner was beside himself. I explained that the car had rust holes one of which you could put a hand through in the floor, and every single part needed rustwork. No RWC of course. It was advertised as "little needed for RWC"

I said to both of them "Honestly this car needs $6000 spent on it to make it presentable."

Anyway to cut a long story, the owner didn't want to budge on $3500, and we went up from $1000 to maximum no other offer of $1500, and left a phone number.

We will see in a few months. Holdens are not that rare. Dozens in the Trading Post each week.

Yeh thanks guys - I may no were an original one is and it was owned by a friends grandfather - if my suspicions are right it is stored away in a farm shed, when I last saw it it was painted inkillrust but still passing the roadworthy in NSW - so I want to offer her a reasonable sum and then flog it mercilessly to the highest bidder - mostly because I do not have the skill or the cash to restore it properly and figure it will go to a good home and i can get on with a VW in my league. Or maybe ??????
