VeeDubs on Pay TV (This week)
DubbyFan - January 21st, 2011 at 06:51 AM

Had a look at the online guide it's Veedub week on Austar this week, now hopefully I have got this right? All times are EST.

All on Turbo Max 1 followed on Turbo Max 2 two hours latter.

Monday at 8am Wheeler Dealers Beetle to Buggy part 1.

Monday at 8pm Wheeler Dealer Beetle to Buggy part 2.
Note can't see these two repeated as yet, the online guide only gives you a week or there abouts

Then 9.30pm Wednesday on Turbo Max 1 Sour Kraut, this is
the Monster Garage episode when they turn a 1951 Split Beetle into a drag car. (Well fast street Beetle)
Note this is repeated a couple more times into Thursday.

They generally repeat these later in the week so if you miss them
they usually come on again later.

Have seen Wheeler Dealer Baywindow and they did a 1960's Beetle
as well which were quite good. The Monster Garage Beetle have
checked out bits on U-Tube, they put a pretty awesome engine in the beast!

Beetle crisis is been repeated at the moment the guy who carries out the main part of the work is Lee Sutherton is based in my home town Birmingham UK, I've been there a few times many years back sourcing bits for my then 1959 split mango nice guy talks straight no bull. I recon they'll run the repeat of Camper van crisis based on a 66 split devon both are good viewing.

Love wheeler dealer they did a nice 912 not long ago. Ed China is a VW nut from years back seems to be a top bloke.

Have seen two beetle Crisis one on a show rag top oval, the other a basket case 1970s Beetle and the Devon Split you mention.

Those race Shack guys seem to know there stuff and the VW scene looks to be huge in the UK and Europe.

Can you remember on one of the shows the cheeky fellow named Kevo is an Aussie. In one of the episodes he races a green and gold motor cycle powered retro car with kangaroo stickers.

Actually those race shack guys went out of business with the owner owing everyone a lot of money. There is some nasty stuff about it on the UK VW forums. Shame.

Woops didn't know that, new the cars now the creditors!

Watched both episodes of Wheeler Dealers on the Buggy, they end up doing a major, new shortened pan, disk brake front end, nice wheels etc. Looks like those shortened pan Buggys handle great!

Looking forward to Monster Garage now, 1951s split-window rag top as a street-drag car, sounds pretty yummy!

On Austar Turbo max this Wednesday 9.30pm repeated Thursday at 8.30am. (Also repeated two hours later on Turbo Max 2)

Just watched Monster Garage "Sour Kraut" 1951 ragtop Beelte.
Have watched a few of these shows and some can be a bit, how do I put this, "Americanised!"

This one is great and yes I am a Veedub fan, but hey a 200hp
51 Beetle that in a week goes from a scrapper to a 10.50, 131mph quarter mile drag car, thats cool!

Build cost around $21,000 USD suppose for that sort of money she probably should run 10s!

Anyone else watch it, what did you think?

Wannavee - January 27th, 2011 at 08:53 PM

Yep,have seen it a couple of times now.
IQ'd it today and will be keeping this one. When he hits 2nd gear and it just takes off, awsome car
