What did you do before the axe fell, why did the other company call for a reference? and what excuse did they give you for terminating your employment?
crap! what do you mean calling for a reference?
I know the feeling. I start my first real job next Tuesday.
I have been unemployed since.. well?? ever I guess.
24 only 2 months away I guess this my lucky break. Finally I will be able to for fill my notchback plans.
Illness struck me down for about 4 years, that is why I missed out on so much time. Well i have a awesome job now that involves traveling all over
Australia and training will be
in Europe. yay
I am sure you will get a good job sometime, just hold in there and your time will come.
Congrats vlad, sounds like a great job, can't beat travel for work, what are / will you be doing?
One of the best things that I found out - many years ago, luckily - is that 'things don't just happen........you have to MAKE them happen'.

hi there
I hope you were a casual (meaning casuals really have no grounds to complain about nuffin)
No one can loose there job on the ground another company called up to do a reference check
If this is the case I would be giving fair work a call

I have to admit it sounds askew that you are still working somewhere and another company calls
I would certainly be giving them a mouth full

The very reason I asked the question.
Henny Penny at East Maitland always have signs up wanting workers.
guys i was a casual driver for pizza hut the new boss is a pig doesnt care thinks coz someone rang for a refrence means im leaving i explained to him
if he gave me more hours i wouldnt have to look for another job

he is a Bastard
keep your chin up
thanks
see im wanting to go into panel beating but i can not find a shop that will take me as an apprentice
I am looking for a panel beating apprentice. Must be willing to learn only the proper and old school way of restoring and making cars. Fabricate
panels and parts, and have a superb eye for detail and a lot of patience.
You would not learn much about any modern cars or bog work under me.
Ringwood VIC
There you go, Katrina. As they say, one door closes - another one
opens. Here's your chance to "make it happen".
Panelbeating is a great trade [ I started in 1956, and still enjoy it ] to learn, so go for it.
Cheers, Greg
i qouls love it but you are in vic i am in nsw

Well, there is no job tying you to NSW. I reckon go for it. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
Are you REALLY fair-dinkum, katrina? It's Victoria, not Siberia.
i have family here im on 18 guys i have a partner i cant even stay away for a week without seeing him im not moving away this early in my life
Take him with you, look on it as an adventure.
Sometimes you gota do what you gota do.
I am a young county guy, never had a job anymore than a few weeks, never been in the city.
Now I get thrown into a a specialist high end job in Melbourne and next week i go to Sydney for 3-4 days to do a job and it will only be my 2nd week
of this job.
I am very closed off person and keep to myself most of the time. If I can do this I am sure you can do it too.
Just take the plunge

im not ready to do that im sorry guys but im not thanks for the advice but i dont wanna move around i have my whole life newy is my home now n i really dont wanna go anywhere just yet
No use dreaming, if you ain't going to follow it. An opportunity to learn a real trade, with a VW caring trainer is not going to happen everyday. My2c
honestly, i think that job would be great, well atleast you might get to work on cars u love.... a move could be a goos thing...and besided newy's not going know where....
Mostly old English sportscars like Austin Healey, MG, Triumph, Aston Martin. Some Porsche, BMW, Ferrari, Alfa thrown in, along with obscure ones.
Bloody Hell!!!! I would have killed for a job like that when I first started work.
There were only Holdens, Morris Minors, Austin A 40s etc to work on. Luckily I transferred to a VW dealer, and worked on good cars.
You need a dedicated person to be your apprentice, helbus.........Good luck.
you can not put brains in a young head. only guide
them... i remember when i was 18... sheish. been a long interesting
road though.
katrina, you said it yourself. you are 18. now is the time when you sprrout wings and experience the world. you are reading like you
are late 20s and ready to settle down in newcastle. life is about oportunity, creating it, experiencing it and taking it. dont end up a 30 something
non married mum with no options. so many of those already. talk to your family and decide what you want. if you want work security (allow you to
travel or be respected and first draft pick among your peers) then a trade or degree is first priorty. if its love and family then marry some one with
a trade or degree.
