Hi guys,
I'm looking at ordering some parts from CIP1 in the states but i am a little unsure of the differences between their beetles and ours. I'm ordering parts for a 1970 beetle and am wondering if there is anything different i need to watch out for.

cheers
Mick.

It depends on what you're after. Things like speedo cables won't fit as they're LHD as are their carpet kits.

Engine bits will be the same. Gearbox bits will be the same. Front end may differ a bit, particularly the brakes. We did have disk brakes here on our beetles, but the states didn't. They had them on the Karman Ghias.

Body bits will pretty much be the same, except for their tail lights. They had all red, where as we have amber/red.

I'm after mainly brake bits and front end components, they do state in the descriptions whether its disc or drum so i guess i can trust that. Are our rubber brake lines the same as theirs? also when they say 68-79 are they refering to swing axle or IRS? or more to the point are the brake components different between swing and IRS ie- wheel cylinders, shoes etc....

70 beetles should be OK...
just remember that the master cylinder and steering and pedals are on the LH side...

I would think the brake hoses would be the same....

apart from drum brakes all round...

just remember if You get anything wrong...
its too costly to return it.... lol

where they say 1968-1979 its usually NON Supers...
and if You click on the part...
sometimes You Will be offered different parts for different years....

ALL Beetles in the USA from 1969 until 1979 all had IRS rear ends... ALL Beetles... No Swing Axles... No disc brakes...

The disc brake bits can be different because beetles didn't have original VW discs they usually sell different calipers etc...

Yes and No swing axle brakes and IRS brake have many common parts youi just need to specify whether they are short or long spline to suit whatever your running .
I would personally run type 3 rear brakes
