hi guys, i was just wondering what suspension setup a 1974 1300 beetle has...would assume it is not a superbug with a 1300..

also..do these include the actual dash and curved screen?

thanks

Anthony

No and No.

The 1300 Beetle was the 'basic' cheap Beetle that was sold alongside the bigger Superbug from 1971-75.

The 1970-75 1300 has the same body shell as the '68-'69 1500 Beetle. Torsion bar front, swing axle rear. Front drums. Flat dashboard, but padded after 1973. NO curved screen.

The Superbug, by comparison, had Macpherson strut front, double joint rear, front discs, and a 1600cc engine. It was of course more expensive than the 1300 - it was around $2600 in 1973 compared with $2300 for the 1300.

The last Aussie Beetle in 1976 was a 'hybrid' of both. It had the 1300 body shell and torsion bar front, but with the Superbug's front disks, double-joint rear and 1600 engine.

If it's the same body as a 1500 it will have a slightly curved windscreen.

Yes I know, but it's not a 'curved' screen in the sense that a Superbug L's is. The Superbug S has a 'flat' screen but again it's the same as the 1500/late 1300 - mostly flat with a very slight curve.

But flat enough to be called flat.
