If anyone else wants to see some pictures of the rebuild and some other odds and ends visit my photo album

What the hell is a Yokohama A048R? We have a racing tyre called an A048E but that only comes in 18 inch sizes and it would be a total waste on the street.

I hope it's not a parallel import. Some dodgy tyre dealers bring tyres in that aren't suited to Australia. They will often be suited to left hand drive cars (yes tyres are different depending on the side of the road you drive on) and the rubber compound may be too soft for Australia and you may only get 5000 kilometers out of them.

Beware of parallel imports. You won't get valvue for money.

they are the real deal, not dodgy

its the tyre used on the lotus elite cup, we can get them with the E mark for Europe but i think they are not allowed in Australia Canada or USA. they are a medium tarmac compound and im expecting them to last only about 5000 miles. at £110 a tyre that will get kinda expensive.

but they stick like shit to sandpaper! and are pretty darn good on the road and prepped track of Santa Pod

I am guessing that you are not in Australia then as if you were and paying in pounds they would be an import.

The image I have is the brochure quality one and it was too big to post.

Yes that is the tyre we call the A048E. Like I said we only have those in the 18 inch size.

I'll find out if the E means it's a different compound or construction.

I would kill to have those on my car. They are the most awesome tyre. You lucky, lucky, lucky bastard.

Thanks for posting the pic. I might have to order some those from Japan.

the cheapest place i could find them was http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk  they aren't listed on the website but to make you feel better they do ship abroad and the sizes available are

165/55R12 Medium
175/50R13 Medium
175/60R13 Medium
185/55R14 Medium
185/60R14 Medium
195/60R14 Medium
195/50R15 Medium
195/55R15 Medium
225/40R18 Medium & Hard
265/35R18 Medium & Hard
285/30R18 Medium & Hard

im running the A048R 195/50/R15 on a set of 5.5J porsche 356 wheels at the rear and that is the absolute thinnest wheel they should go on, its really on the limit

ive got Bridgestone B340 175/55/R15 smart car tyres on the front on the same rims and they are the perfect front tyre

This is CT & his oval doing what it does best, picking on Porsches ( & superbugs) whilst doing it in style. This is exibit A that show cars shouldn't be in mothballs in the garage, & B, that race cars don't have to be a wreck held together by a roll cage.
way cool
