Hi All, if your in the market for some shiny rims, dont buy chromed rims or chromed billets, yeah sure they look absolutely fantastic!! but all it takes is one careless tyre fitter to chip the chrome edge, or nudge a gutter and before too long, the chrome is going to start to flake off. Lots of people now are stuck with less than perfect wheels that cannot be repaired/ replated etc , Most electroplaters will tell you to take the shit away!! So a logical approach would be to find an aluminium billet of your liking, then get it polished by a reputable polisher, and if ever you damage or graze or scratch it, just get it buffed out & repolished!! There are a lot of people who wish they had done this before throwing big bucks at chrome billets
I rarely see any chrome wheels anymore. They were popular around 10 years ago where I am, but I can't remember the last time I saw any. Most looked tacky also. I definitely agree that polished is the way to go if you want something shiny.
yep its pretty logical.
soft easy to corrode, high expansion metal coated in hard, low corrosion, low expansion metal is not very durability.
Its just like a egg shell. Once you chip it of bent it, it all starting to crack and peel.
Chrome rims that are steel underneath are good and durable.
To quote "gommer pile" well surprise surprise surprise!you will have the same problem with any wheel be it a painted steel wheel to a bbs hard anodized forged rim.chip it grind it you will have oxidation/flaking issues.you can have your rims cerama chromed but I'm sure the coating costs more than a new set of philipino chrome hose reels.
Nup im sorry but i love chrome rims.
Dont drive over pot holes, gutters dont gutter rash em dont let dogs piss on em and youl be right. And big also keep em clean so others can stare at
em!
Talkin about dogs pissin on wheels, hands up how many people put valve caps in their mouths whilst pumping up their tyres??????????????
