Show and Shine Entry: $30.00 (includes 1 entry for the driver) and you can even save $5.00 by doing a pre entry

pretty good value

Cheers, but I pretty much have the exact same questions as wolfgang54, I thought it'd be beneficial to post the answers publicly so it could help others also. Unless there's a reason why that's not a good idea?
Should be a fun day, however I doubt my car can go in any other category than "22 - Rat class - All Years"

vw54 - April 13th, 2011 at 10:00 PM

in context of a newby

azzatron - April 15th, 2011 at 03:53 PM

Yeah, I was also curious about the judging process etc. Never been involved in a car show and shine before, so it's all new. (I doubt any amount of cleaning and polishing will make my car "shine" regardless  )

wolfgang54 - April 17th, 2011 at 07:32 PM

bump!!

barls - April 17th, 2011 at 08:16 PM

its before a certain time but i dont know.
as for the drive through judging, its exactly what it sounds like. you cue up and drive in to the judging area before going to the main area for the show and shine.

azzatron - April 17th, 2011 at 09:11 PM

What do the judges look for though? What criteria are points/scoring based on etc?
This won't make any difference to me personally. But I'm curious as I often see judging criteria published, but not in this circumstance.
Cheers

Unfortunately there isnt a lot in the way of accomodation around fairfield/smithfield. Several pubs which could be dubious. Try google accomodation fairfield, but you'll find more choice at liverpool and parramatta.

wolfgang54 - April 18th, 2011 at 06:38 AM

dont stay at the golden chain in parramatta! :td: lol

vw54 - April 18th, 2011 at 06:59 AM

theres the formula one at Liverpool its about 10 minutes away

I am sorry i dont know what the judges are looking for as i stay out of that side of the show I do know that that they look at body, engine, interior and overall

yes you have to be in the line up before 11 and we wil be starting as early as we can probally around 8.00

h - April 18th, 2011 at 08:52 AM

Drive thru judging. How does a judge really have a good look at a car, when there is a line a mile long waiting to be judged. Can he/she then compare the cars later on in the day?How does someone who comes through at nine oclock get compared to someone at 11?
If you have a watercooled car,its peer judging isnt it?What would some of these people know about judging cars in a show and shine?
I know it takes a lot of time and effort to put on the Nationals and the commitee does a great job,but bring back the days of walk around judging or even better independant car show judges.

Ollie - May 20th, 2011 at 12:45 PM

Geez a lot of negativity for something which is provided for the community, by the community!

I'm sure the judges have a clear set of guidelines in which they follow for each car and award points accordingly.
It probably varies with each category? And I'm guessing that if there is any wavering concern as to which car is the winner they will do a comparison viewing.

Hah Hell yeah Azza- looking forward to seeing yours ratting it up!

scot70wagon - May 20th, 2011 at 02:28 PM

isn,t the whole idea to have a bit of fun. if you win something all well and good, personally i feel everyone gets a bit carried away with the whole competitive nature of a big show.
