It's normal to have VW car parts in your lounge room - isn't it !!
Camo - April 15th, 2011 at 02:49 PM

Hi all,

my wife seems to have a problem with my car parts in the downstairs rumpus room and I think it's quite ok as we hardly use this room. it's also the safest place for them at this time. The pool table came in very handy and is just the right size for the doors.

What's your thought and add photos if you have any :lol::lol:

Or is this just a guy thing :?::?::?:

Makes it look kinda 'homey' I reckon. lol

I think she would be happier if you were to hang those larger panels on the walls, that way it is not so cluttered and the pool table is still able to be used.
Either that or put a lock on the door to keep her out!

Cheers Dave

Looks like you've done everything correctly, Kev - nice soft covers down, so the paint won't get damaged. No, that's looks fine to me.:tu:

Cheers, Greg

twoguns - April 15th, 2011 at 04:25 PM

mate... it is. i dedicated a whole bedroom to vw parts.

i work on my motorbike in the entry hall of my apartment too. some parts make great 'conversation pieces' when entertaining guests as well!

hellbugged - April 15th, 2011 at 04:42 PM

tell her it's perfectly normal Kev!

I cooked a VW engine once, but it was all at once - not a bit at a time like that!

Adsman - April 15th, 2011 at 04:58 PM

Are they pushrod tubes in the oven?

btc-er - April 15th, 2011 at 05:55 PM

It's completely normal (for a given definition of the word "normal").

BTW, have you considered that this possibly isn't the best place to get an objective opinion on the topic?

helbus - April 15th, 2011 at 06:30 PM

I built a front end suspension for my EH in the loungeroom, and when I finished it was too heavy for me to carry outside.

robb - April 15th, 2011 at 06:39 PM

camo the thing i might say about ya pic is that maybe the doors are alittle close other than that all looks fine

Birdman - April 15th, 2011 at 06:59 PM

Nice use of the pool table there Camo,
I do not have one so car parts on the dining table and rc cars on the coffee table!
Just noticed a billet AFM and digital calipers on the computer desk. Completely normal.

 Why do you think I asked on here.

Hellbugged, I love the coffee table made from wheels and tyres, plus you need to keep an eye on them for safety. And the added bonus that the kids also enjoy veedubbing.

VolksVair - April 15th, 2011 at 07:48 PM

Down here in Geelong, there is no other lounge room that can compete with "Hanks" from glass cabinets full of model vws to a cut down vw engine that was once a classroom display still on a full sized vw engine stand, & thats only the lounge room!! but I kid you not, Hank is a VW Doctor with the highest degree

Paulc1964au - April 15th, 2011 at 08:01 PM

Kev,

If she gives you the ultimatum thats its the car parts to go or her just tell her how much you will miss her when she leaves lol

ahoogah - April 15th, 2011 at 08:09 PM

Years ago I was after a dodge 400 v8 and a friend of a mate put me onto a chrysler fanatic.
Rang him,he had one in bits:
crank,conrods etc ; kitchen table
heads sump valley ; laundry trough
block ; in the bath with a gallon of kero

Perfectly normal ?
Mind you,he was single.

HappyDaze - April 15th, 2011 at 08:29 PM

matberry - April 15th, 2011 at 11:21 PM

Looks normal from here.

I couldn't believe my wife when we were at H's house warming. His house is a side section of the BIG shed and Donna thought it was very cool, not having to walk to far to get to play with the dubs :tu::tu::tu:

Hi Kev

I had the heads off My engine at one time , and put My engine back together in My [Our] dining room...
I think the reason for that , mainly, it may have been winter...
??
but I did put newspaper on the floor first... lol

I have lots of parts in a spare bedroom and the computer room...
but it seems the dining room is now off limits as far as VWs go
lol
and the worst part is She Keeps cleaning up the "MESS"

which makes finding parts very difficult...:lol:l:ol:

Lee

PS: Kev - no holes for a VW badge on the bonnet?? and No Wolfsburg crest??? I love those... Lee
