My parts will be goin on egay then.

LUFTMEISTER - April 17th, 2011 at 08:48 PM

does that include entry for 4 people as well. Not much point in going if theres no one selling.:td: were does the money go anyway?;) guess they think we have bottomless pockets like the govts.:ninja:

amazeer - April 17th, 2011 at 11:06 PM

I think the money goes to maintaining the clubvw clubhouse and gardens. The pole dancers and drinks at the big after party dont come cheap either.

:crazy::crazy::crazy::crazy:

shokwave2 - April 18th, 2011 at 07:09 AM

Sorry, but can i confirm: $40 is if you're setting up a stall, is that correct?

$15 if you're just browsing?

dangerous - April 18th, 2011 at 08:25 AM

Slight shift in topic,
but if the economy is slow, you should REDUCE your prices.
This is just a basic business principal.

ian.mezz - April 18th, 2011 at 09:14 AM

sell your parts on here aussieveedubbers its free isnt it.

rob53 - April 18th, 2011 at 09:46 AM

The club is not for profit, so there must be a reason why it's higher, perhaps the cost to hire the show ground have gone up? Each year they do an outstanding job of organising the whole event, I don't want to imagine what it would be like if it disappears.

beetleboyjeff - April 18th, 2011 at 12:58 PM

I wonder if some sort of percentage on takings would work. It would have to be some sort of voluntary scheme - you wouldn't want some 'power crazy' chasing you down for the money, or on the other hand, you wouldn't want the job of hassling stall holders to see how much they made.

Hopefully, most people would do the right thing.

Of course, then it makes it hard for the club to budget for the show, as in how much will change hands, and how much will be declared. Still, I suppose now, they don't know how many stall holders they will have anyway, although I assume they would have some idea from past shows.

It may be something the club could look at - or maybe it is only a few people on here concerned about it?

its either $10 or $20 to enter the venue.... per person...

it has been the same for years..

but upping the cost to sellers isn't good...

a lot of lookers want to grab a bargain at the swap meet...

but upping the cost to sellers will keep a lot away... IMHO..

ESPECIALLY the small sellers..

Pumba - April 18th, 2011 at 04:44 PM

Its simple really, there killing the swapmeet by over charging:lol:

silver - April 18th, 2011 at 04:50 PM

The Swap meet is a huge part of the drawcard
if the swap meet dwindles then so will admissions
so its a no brainer keep it cheap and attract more stalls

Spot on:tu:

vw54 - April 18th, 2011 at 05:30 PM

Well its quite obvious none of the above people have ever put on a show or even attempted to

theres heaps of costs with putting the event on the venue cost approx 4K and is increasing every year

In case you didnt realise its been $30.00 for a few years Plus $10.00 for an admission fee as well So theres your $40.00 we just did it this way as last time people were winging about the extra $10.00 to get in and paying 2 fees

In fact last year was a BUMPER year for Swap stands we have to push them out of the under cover area as theres TOO MANY

I know of many swappers who go home with very FAT pockets

If you dont want to come along thats fine just sell yr stuff on Ebay and see what fees it attracts

Top Idea Geoff we would make even MORE funds for the Club

laroche - April 18th, 2011 at 05:40 PM

The price of the stall should include the admission fee, $30 including admission. Seems a rip that they charge for the pitch plus admin.

Stands to reason that the more stalls there are, the more people will come, increase in visitors covers the $10 fee.

I only go to it for the stuff for sale, other than that its mostly the same old cars year after year.

Hutcho - April 18th, 2011 at 06:45 PM

Geez... how's the critisism....
Can't win em all hey Dave!
I'm looking forward to the TWENTY FOURTH successful Nationals.

vw54 - April 18th, 2011 at 08:26 PM

YEP I do to

And so do the 50 or so swappers that attend and sell there trinkets

thanks Hutcho

YEP it does but the price is $40.00

LUFTMEISTER - April 18th, 2011 at 09:30 PM

Easiest way to kill an event is to ignore the punters.

57 Cal look - April 19th, 2011 at 12:33 AM

Well , you could just set your swap meet stall up in the car park and not pay any fees? .......only joking ...... but if you do you should really discount your prices a little bit then.

68-bug - April 19th, 2011 at 10:43 AM

Why do you have to charge entry fee on top of your site fee, I'm usually by myself , and I can't leave my site to go looking around and enjoy the show. Plus I travel 160 km from Nowra (south of Sydney) $60 bucks worth of fuel (oneway) ,get to the show $40 bucks entry fee, already $100 out of pocket, and I haven't even started to unload my car, Fair Go Guys !, don't forget that we are part of the people who make your show what it is today !, John.

barls - April 19th, 2011 at 10:59 AM

guys its simple if you dont like the price of the site, dont sell there. nobody is forcing you there are other alternatives.
as for you whinging that its expensive, lets look at a one of others major events
valla $44 outside $71 inside link http://volkswagenspectacular.com/?page_id=81
i think that the price is fair, as for i cant leave my stand and go and have a look, thats your problem for going by yourself id suggest ether setting up next to someone you know so they can watch the site while you have a look or bringing someone with you that can watch it while you wander.

as for the im already out of pocket before getting there, do you think your the only one that travels to these events, just factor in what you have to make to break even.

grumpy - April 19th, 2011 at 02:27 PM

If you want to complain about the price of a swap site put youre prices up . Also if you are still complaining get youre own club to hold a swap meet. Or better still shut up.

LUFTMEISTER - April 19th, 2011 at 04:01 PM

Spoken like a Statesman...................................................................................CAR :rolleyes

STIDUB - April 19th, 2011 at 07:23 PM

the club poll is mostly aimed at those outspoken in this thread - go nuts :)

ian.mezz - April 19th, 2011 at 08:53 PM

fark $40 whats that these days a pack of smokes:lol:

57oval - April 19th, 2011 at 09:50 PM

A slab of German beer is $30.00

amazeer - April 19th, 2011 at 10:08 PM

Petrol is up around $1.50 a litre and Daimo has to come all the way down from Nambucca. I have to go from Wollongong to Alexandria to Wollongong to Goulburn to Wollongong to Smithfield to Wollongong to Alexandria to Wollongong on premium as well as use up 2 of my precious annual leave days. I probably wont get to eat on Saturday if the last 2 years are anything to go by, and I'll get nothing when I get home either because its my wife's birthday and I've been off with the VW mob.

I reckon they should put the entry fee up to about $100. Then on the way out we all get a $60 rebate. Club VW is happy they've taken in $40K. I'm happy I've been given a $60 subsidy. Some middle man takes $20 each admin fee. Everyone feels warm and fuzzy then!

I have to confess this is not entirely my own idea. I borrowed substantially from the carbon tax scheme.

LUFTMEISTER - April 19th, 2011 at 11:40 PM

"as for you whinging that its expensive, lets look at a one of others major events valla $44 outside $71 inside link http://volkswagenspectacular.com/?page_id=81"
Don't you love how the only example they list is probably the only dearer swap meet on the east coast of Australia. Nearly all the swap meets I attend are between $5 & 20 dollars and that includes the car occupants.

barls - April 19th, 2011 at 11:56 PM

prove it then, i looked for other examples and this was the only on that was listed apart from the nationals on the web site.
