Hard to believe but yet another very early and rare bug has turned up in Lithuania in a similar scenario to VW38 a few years earlier.
For those not familar with the the VW38 story, for years this chronically molested bug sat in someones backyard being ignored probably cos people
figured it was nothing special, just a severely hacked beetle.
The body, had the front mutilated with a DKW front end, fitted with a different windscreen, back window and the vw floorpan was swapped for a front
engined RWD Volga chassis.
Long story short the 3 prototype beetles from 1938 were destroyed before the war, this was one of the next batch of pre-production ones made.
Thankfully it's been restored now.
The latest find is an early 40s wartime KDF wagen.
Seems to be sitting on a Kubel chassis so is probably a type82e.
This ones discovery??
On the roof of a small town mechanics garage where it's been sitting for years
A photo from 11 years ago
Thankfully it's been swapped for a 70s bug and pulled down to be saved.
Just blows me away there is stuff like this still out there.
are the tail light original??
WOW! Do you know any more bits about this Kubelwagen's history?

Wow, that's impressively complete, especially given what it was being used for! I've seen much worse cars come out of 'barn finds'.

Wheres the link to the new story ??
i have read the other 190 pages

Hi
There was guy at Boris Picnic day last year who had a hand in rescuing the orange bug.
Steve
got family in Latvia next door
eyes extra peeled next visit there
These bloody things are coming out of the woodwork now
Another one in Norway this time, a Wartime 1943 KDF type 60 found in a barn.
Ooo this one looks to be in pretty good condition. By the looks, some of the parts are scattered in the shed. Lucky buggers!

How about that.
I learned a looooooong time ago it's a very small world in VW circles.
