Hi all..

im wanting to remove the irs trailing arms off a beetle to use in a conversion. Trouble is im not sure how to go about it. can anyone asssit?

Also, what bits and pieces will i need for the conversion? obviously i need to weld in new boxes to mount them, but what else?

thanks

irs arms, spring plates, handbrake cables, gearbox, axles, cv's, stub axles... thing thats about it?

17mm inhex socket and a breaker bar will get the arms off, keep the spacer/washers that come with them

you need a jig to align the new box section onto the torsion tube

if you dont get the correct alignement then forget about it

where r u located???

I did this about 2 weekends ago. Remove the brakes and backing plates, remove drive shafts, undo bolts holding everything to the springplate and then there is a big allen bolt on the front of the control arm, undo and pull out, remove the arm.
