Arrived home on Thursday morning from a four and a half week European vacation and was so looking forward to the VW Nationals. Friday morning i went
to uncover my 56 Oval and thats when i felt like crap. One of my darling teenagers had put a huge ding in my passenger door, looks like they tried to
ram raid it. Bloody kids!!!!!!
What do i do?
Do i still show the car or not?
yep!!!! Im taking mine! im sure yours looks better than undercoat, dings and rust
yep take it, an "interesting" story, its a fact of life cars get dinged. and next year it will be like taking a different car!
I agree bring it!
I would!!!!! I'm taking mine, Sure she's not perfect, She's my daily drive! its for the fun of it. You don't wanna miss out!!!!
take the door trim off and push the ding out ??!
Welcome home, not
Mick, since you asked the question I will give you my opinion. No, I don't think you should enter it. From the short time I have known you and your
car, you are always clean (the car that is :-), don't like to get rained on (again the car) and I'm sure you wouldn't wear a nice suit with
joggers. It is a shame what happened, but you will be worrying about what everyone is thinking as they walk past your car and just look.
I know this is against what the others above have said, but it is my thoughts. You do what you want to do, of course.
Oh yeah, welcome back to Oz.
Kev.
having seen the car and the damage I am in two minds. The car is a perfect example of how a car restoration should be done.
having said that i suggested to Mick to place a mat out of the window just to cover the cracked paint work.
It will be a real shame for VW loves if the 56 isnt there.
Next year Mick, Kev's and my daily will all be there now thats a promise
take it , its about the VW not the trophies. and you'll be telling people the story about the ding all day long.
Take the car and the kids. Display the kids next to the car and have a sign next to them to show what happens when kids get too close to a car.
the other advantage mick is you might find the right person to do the repair
I like 65standards response. take the kids with a sign and get them to explain to EVERYONEthat asks just what they did. Make them stay all day, put
their consequence against the crime.
PS how old are they?
Good luck, sucks not to be perfect, but if the rest of the car is good then people will see the great car that has recently had an accident.
Shit, maybe my wife is right (don't say that to loud) in that I do think different to everybody else
As I said Mick, your car and do what you want.
But I like the idea of embarrassing the kids
Kev
if its a restored oval and not a customised oval then bring it along! Thats what I want to see. Nowhere near enough of them.
stop looking at the ding man, just be glad its not worse.you still have a great car.
Bring it! I'll be attending my very first VW nationals and i'd love to see it! Ding and all!!
Thanks Guy's
I will be there with the car.
Yay!
I say bring it like most people
Also head down to those novelty shops and buy a big bandaid just to take the piss out of it.
The more ovals the better the show becomes.
Bringing the Type 3 & Kombi
well show it but tell the people there that some crap driver bumped u thats what to do
