I have a 69 beetle and despite everyone trying to talk me into a "family car" want to keep my little buggy even though I am soon to be a mum. I need
to keep some of my identity right, and I think we'd look so cool cruising down to the beach together!
Anyway, so is it possible to fit a seat in there? Where do you anchor it to without having to drill holes in panels or ruin any body work that the
seat will still be safe and secure?
Am I dreaming?
Any advice, ideas or stories from experience appreciated!
thanks!!
There is no way around drilling holes. There are no holes now, and the safe belts have to connect to a clip bolted through a hole.
You will need seatbelts also, so that you can slip the seatbelt through the bottom section of the baby capsule.
When running the capsule in reverse when baby is first born, you will have to either take the passenger seat out, or put it so far forward that it
cannot touch the capsule.
Follow the rules and the safety, and it will work. We have two little boys that love it. It was hard when the second one was first born, as one of us
parents could not go in the passenger front seat. We had to use the Kombi then.
Now they are in booster seats, we can all go in the Beetle again.
Not that hard to have done, cost me $550 and that was for all new belts. Recoil belts in front with lap sash in back with a centre belt, 3 child
restraint points and car engineered for 5 seats.
He loves his seat and looks straight through the front window merrily kicking the back of my seat.
Hi Guys,
About to pick up a 1970 Beetle and will need to be able to put a 15 month old in the car, so I will need to have some anchor/s put in
Can anyone tell me where I can go to get this done - I am in Sydney's North near Hornsby.
Does it need to be engineered or can I do it? - I have had some thoughts on how to do it but not sure if it would work.
in nsw it needs to be at least checked by a seat belt fitting station. the rta lists these on its website or you could ring the rta tech support line and they will point you in the direction of one.
lucky you dont live in W.A.
They just changed the regs recently and when I read them I could not work out how you could put a baby capsule in a 2 door car, they seem to have
legislated them out of the options.
They've gone nuts, way beyond practical.
Has any one got any recommendations of where to go or what to do
The information is not hard to find.
