Fitting window trim.
Scratch - June 8th, 2011 at 09:19 AM

Hi all,

I've searched the answer to this and I'm sure it's here somewhere, I just can't find it.

Do you fit the metal window seal trims to the rubber/window before or after fitting the windows? I went to do it this morning and realised I had no idea...

Any answers or links to old threads would be great.

cheers, Scratchy

Before you fit the window is what I have read in the books, watched on the Bug me videos and am intending to do when I fit the glass to my oval.

Thanks Chris,

I did a quick call around for a new windscreen and i found a mob that will fit the windows for and extra 100 bucks. Sounds good to me since I bought the ISP West rubbers before I knew that they rarely fit well. I might just watch and learn.

Fit the rubber to the glass first make sure you center the rubber join on the glass nuthing worse than having the join on a corner looks ugly

then fit the metal trim to the rubber after you think its in properly go around 2 more times to make sure it sits all the way down into the groove by pulling the rubber back n forth

then fit the assy to the car

clean and wash the glass befoire hand as well and scrap all the gunk off with a razor blade as well

Dóh

just reread my post and forgot to say that when you fit the window, its fitting it to the car.
Fit the rubber to glass, fit the trim, then fit the whole thing to the car.

Dave describes it much better.
