hey guys could you have a crack at roughly ID-ing what year/model Beetle you think these doors are off. She is a 56 but that doesn't mean much she's
a bit of a mongrel,but she's mine
I'm thinking early 60s? Not sure, but definitely before 1968, they're 6 volt doors.
Holy Smokes so they might actually be the original doors?

If you want to make them 56 oval doors, just weld up the little hole for the handle and fit ice pick door handles

That's later than 1960. The exterior handles are wrong for an oval.
Anywhere between 60 and 67, doors didn't change in that time in aus.
59 to 66 I have a spec guide in my lap. And photos to prove.
Wasnt 59 still ice pick door handles???
Yup, was very early 60 that they swapped to push button in Aus.
Trendy, if it says 66 they stopped you're probably looking at overseas specs
Aus ran them till fat chicks started in 68.
pics of the locks, i cant guarantee these are the original locks from the doors, you may know.
good call lee it is my xm coupe
Inside winder looks like a 54 only winder. Does it have a rib down the middle?

Hi T54 here are the handles /winders that were in the car

the 3 handles on the left match the bezel on the right and are too early for your car. still, they are worth more than the late ones and the late ones
are easy to get.
Love your XM Granto! From fellow XM fan..

The window winder arms had a date stamp on them until at least the late 50's.
thanks wayne!
thanks all for the handle/winder info guys i'll check the dates

1st 3 are off a 54 or earlier, the forth is a mid 55 onwards.
I have spares of each kind. Left me know which way you want to go and I should be able to sort you out for a matching set.
