ebay shop/seller - 123vwking - creative descriptions....
Uber Kafer - June 11th, 2011 at 01:30 PM

just had an interesting experience with an item received from ebay shop/seller 123vwking. Might be a plausible explanation but the item description was wildly overstated compared to the item I received today. Lets see if this can be sorted without wasting anymore of my time and energy...

Nor do I want a repeat of the hostile reception I received when I made a phone call to the NSW phone number I was given.

But in the meanwhile, be cautious if considering an ebay purchase from that seller.

With the small dealing I had with him, stay clear of him.

I was after a part that my normal parts place didn't have so I rang VWKING and in conversation I only mentioned this other person (dealer), the VWKING said and I quote "He's an arse hole" and hung up on me.

Great way to do business, NOT.

this is what happened.
The eBay description was for a replacement bumper for a 70's beetle:
"This is a Genuine German make, .... Ours is genuine German Tripple Chromed and Zinc Coating on the back".
What I received:
Genuine Brazil, ( 'Made in Brazil' in big black lettering on the wrapper is pretty unambiguous)
Double chromed ( from the best info I could find in the internet searching on the manufacturer's name (Wolff) and part number 111.807.107.A ),
Silver painted on the back ( not zinc coated).

The explanation I received from the vendor via email:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"may i point out that it is a Genuine Vw part, and not a cheap After market fake from China, ok maybe i should have been more specific but German Factory Parts have not been in production since 1982, their factory has moved and soley comes from the Brazil Plant after Mexico ended their Parts Distribution in 1991, also i wish to point out that the VW car manufacturer, in Brazil since the late 1950s, is utterly Genuine German Spec Made which responds directly to the headquarters in Germany."
and,

"As Being In The Volkswagen Industry for Over 40 Years you may not know that Germany certified parts all come from Brazil NOW !!! furthermore i am not wishing to debate the Authenticity of the product as it came wrapped in it's original Brand New Parts Packing Genuine VW German Spec Made in Brazil Part and Number packaging direct from the VW Parts Plant !!"
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And I received an offer to return for a refund. Which I have walked away from as I will just chalk it up as one of the few bad/dodgy internet experiences I have had. I will fit it to the car but as I live 1km from the ocean I expect it will very quickly look just like the 2 other rusty brazilian bumpers on our cars.

That email reply/explanation above will resonate with some people, but only those who have a vested interest in perpetuating a myth.

But I suggest that people look up the meaning and use of the term 'genuine'. Feel free to contact the National Administration of Volkswagen Australia because you might be surprised what their lawyers have to say about the use of the phrase "Genuine Vw part".

now I'm convinced I was dealing with clowns, check this out, $155 for a pair of empi bolt on aluminium rocker covers on their ebay listings. ?

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260802350416&ss...

I just checked classicveedub and he has them for $35. Unblvbl.

Heres a tip guys, you better rack up a heap of sales quickly to dilute the impact of my negative feedback from that ebay sale fiasco. Anything below 95% positive feedback is a warning beacon for most ebay shoppers.. So if yours is 66% it looks like you have some work to do..

Wow....beware of evilbay

donn - June 17th, 2011 at 09:06 AM

But what's the exhaust kit?

Pollywaffle - June 17th, 2011 at 01:26 PM

Is this VW King who's workshop is in Riverwood?

65standard - June 17th, 2011 at 11:32 PM

The one in the same

68AutoBug - June 18th, 2011 at 12:07 AM

That is some Mistake..... $$$$$

I'd take it back or send it back.....

and most of the junk chrome seems to come from BRASIL
well.. all of the ones I have seen...

and If You wax the bumper with good quality Carnubra wax
every month or so... [or more often where You live]
Your Bumper may last without rusting...

but once they start.... they don't stop rusting..lol

so, its wax and wax and more wax....

funny thing is.. they don't rust while in the plastic bag.... lol

LEE

PS: My bumper came from an antique shop... lol

Yeah, i tried to buy an oil cooler from these clowns and got some story about paypal not working properly and my payment not going through. When he asked me for my credit card No the alarm bells started ringing.
If the reputable Aussie VW shops put some prices on their websites i would buy more gear off them, it is a pain in the arse ringing for quotes when you are browsing and working out a budget. The price may change so a ball park price would do

greeno72 - June 18th, 2011 at 07:55 PM

This is especially the case when you live hours from a capital city

I queried a few of his prices a while ago on eBay and this is the response I got. Cut and paste from my eBay messages account so it's a direct quote. This is how he explained his high prices to me;

Order them from overseas, pay for ebay store, pay my internet guy, you see how you do pal !!...and if you don't like it..l.piss off !! that is all !!

He is a "charming" individual. As knowledgable as he is, he's been in the game too long. He's too busy feeding and chasing his cats around the workshop.

Not sure if I could have said it better myself!

He's nice when he's in a good mood. If you call him when he's in a bad mood, you'll wish you hadn't.

L469 - June 22nd, 2011 at 08:02 PM

i have known moushe for 21 years
his communication skills are poor at best
he was quite good at what he does but time
and technology have passed him by i am sure if someone made him an offer
for his shop to take it over he would retire
i don't have any connection with this place

other than the occasional visit to see how he is going.
the guy is in his 70's and a bit of a character
he is probably frustrated by his own lack of computer knowledge
leaving someone who knows about computers to post classifieds but
with little knowledge of vw's causing him more grief than it is worth
trying to run a business that he can no longer cope with:yes:

Uber Kafer - June 24th, 2011 at 09:15 AM

thanks L469.
That puts some perspective on it. And it certainly makes sense from the experience I had.

Hopefully someone buys him out.
