Can anyone put me in contact with a Beetle friendly Roadworthy place in the Labrador area ? preferably mobile if possible as she is still on UK plates
at the moment

Do you have 'Import approval' from

That is the first thing you will need, or the car can never be registered.
yep got all that, before I left the UK 
its best if you just go to a general repairer who doesnt know where to look for all the beetls wear and tear.

I always take My beetle to a local ex VW trained Mechanic to get My roadworthy each year [in NSW]
and have had no problems...
but last time I left it too late and went to a General roadworthy shop....
and ... He tested everything....
even the reverse lamps which I have added...
which work by a switch on the speedo cable so the car actually has to go into reverse a bit for it to work...
He had trouble getting the brake pressure printout correct as it was raining and it was saying that My rear brakes were 60%
which is way too much...
it took about 45 minutes....
but No problems really as there isn't anything wrong with My beetle....

I took a '66 Beetle to a general Blue slip place near me a couple of weeks ago. The car was off the road for a number of years, and he pinged me for
legitimate stuff that was easily repaired. Things like reflector chrome. Had to be chrome, not silver or worn. Link pins. He even got me for a slow
flasher relay. He wasn't concerned about surface rust, just so long as it isn't through the panel or body.
It depends on the guy on the day. Friendly one day, not so the next.

Talk to your local VW workshops - they will know someone that can give you a 'VW friendly' RWC.

You cannot get just anyone to do the intianl insspection, you will have to contact Queensland transport to get a special inspection and blue plate
fitted as it is an import.
I contacted them the other day and they gave me a couple of contacts.
Queensland Transport number modifications number is 3114 5844
