Cop car chase!!!
Blue65 - August 11th, 2003 at 12:34 AM

This seems a bit crazy but I had a cop car chase after me for speeding. Yes, terrible me was doing 63km/h in a 60 zone highway (it also goes to 80km in some places).

I was driving and then suddenly all the cars on my right slowed down. I
thought wtf? Then I saw a police car parked deeply in a driveway. Its siren
lights went on. And the police officer in the car waved at me to pull over.
I thought wtf? But there were also cars behind me and I couldn't simply
brake in the middle of a busy road now could I? :) And I thought - bugger it -
I'll play dumb so I kept on driving. So the cop car chased after me. But
there were so many cars between me and him. And no one wanted to pull over
and let bluey boy get pass.

So merrily I went along at a rock steady 60km whilst watching the police siren lights blink furiously behind me.

He gave up after 10km. Seems funny now. But it sure didn't seem like it
before - those speeding fines are ridiculous. They spend so much time
chasing after people who are doing a few km off the limit in "easy to catch"
areas. They should be spending more time chasing after idiots who gayily tail gate others on the slow lane.
:o

Bloody hell, BLUE65.

You were doing 3km/h over the speed limit. Did you expect him to just let you get away with it? Lucky you didn't get locked up for such a serious offence!

:D

Doug Sweetman - August 11th, 2003 at 09:47 AM

hahahahaha love it :)

nice work

Brad - August 11th, 2003 at 10:00 AM

I am just as keen on a good yarn as the next bloke and this is a great yarn. :D

Have to ask firstly how do you know you were doing 63kmph when the cop got you ? Do you still have the mph speedo in the car ? If so I reckon the 1.875 miles you say you were doing over the 37.5mph speed limit would be very hard to tell, almost the speedo needle thickness me thinks ...

Then the police car followed you for 10 mins (maybe longer in traffic @ 60kmph for 10km ) and then just gave up ??

mmm the cops around where you live must be different to the rest of Australia :o:o:vader

squizy - August 11th, 2003 at 10:17 AM

Being a Victorian cop, you're lucky he didn't shoot at you.
:D

Squiz......

I was driving my mum's car: a Volvo - my Beetle is in the workshop because the engine caught fire (see the tech forum), and the speedo showed I was above the 60 but not above 65.

The police car followed me - maybe he thought I'd pull over or something. But like I said the other cars did not pull over to let him pass. So maybe he got mad at one of them instead. I dunno.

But I'm buggered if I'm going to pay Bracks (our premier) $200 for doing 63km in a 60 zone highway area. The b^stards are using this as pure revenue raising scam. Morons can't earn money the decent way. What next? They'll lower speed limits to 20mph everywhere just to get more cash.

Da Wiz - August 11th, 2003 at 11:41 AM

aaaaaaaahahahahaha ... VOVLO !!! ... explains everything ... you could play dumb and everyone qould expect nothing less :D Copper would have put the gett'away down to 'damn Volvo drivers and their lack of ... smarts' ahaha

...gold ... love it :)

pyr0 - August 11th, 2003 at 11:46 AM

LOL classic "did you see the siren's" "what sirens" LOL

himmell - August 11th, 2003 at 12:12 PM

i guess the cops are only doing theyre job and following the stupid revenue making legislation the bracks gov. has dreamed up. I had a good run in with my p.o.s super on dandenong road a few months ago, i was about 10 ks over and an unmarked car pulled me up. The female coppa thought it was pretty funny and commented that she didnt think beetles could go so fast, her offsider then came over and told me how he once had a similar beetle and let me go?. im personally fiding it hard to adjust to this new customer friendly force, its a bit too weird for my liking. i agree with squizy, what ever happened to the old school of melbourne coppa that either took a bribe or a pot shot.
:D

SKEWtYpe3 - August 11th, 2003 at 03:03 PM

only one head light, driving down the middle of a back street and in the parents car with no P plates up......how much $ ?
Nothing hehehehee, let me off :)
Made a good story up quick, part lies part truth.

lucky bugger arent i ! :)

koolkarmakombi - August 11th, 2003 at 05:03 PM

Im with buggy brad, That aint like the QLD police. I dream of the day they get friendler. Can you say TAX COLLECTORS:cry:cry:cry:cry:cry

Dont get me started on their attitude to anyone apparently socially disadvantaged. This state is currently being besieged by the fun police. Unless you earn 80k, live in a new rich 'burb, then they do whatever you want.......

The new antihooning laws have started to have a heavy impact on the motorcycle community. Something about ANY non adr approved add on parts like exhausts. Lights too. 'Oh sir those there lights are nice but the glasses do not have an approval number' DEFECT

aaaargh I best not get started.... well more started anyways...:puke

no kool karma to 'em

Thook - August 11th, 2003 at 05:40 PM

I thought I was going to go down in a big way (numerous things not quite 'approved';) & after scaring the crap out of me and being told so, he just asked me if his friend was correct in saying that he saw my Kombi up at Rainbow Beach around Xmas time......after a yes that was me......the comment was made that it was seen going pretty fast at the time......Not I.....it was 11CAB!!!!!!!:D

Flying VW - August 11th, 2003 at 06:02 PM

Herbie Down Under and I were doing 100 ks over the limit in a 100 zone on the weekend, about two minutes later we passed a cop car that had a Saab pulled over. I said hey there waiting for us hahaha.:P

Someone speeding in Queensland???? Must have been a southern tourist. You can tell the tourists. They are the ones NOT hogging the right hand lane. Anyhow, I reckon just being a queenslander is an arrestable offence.:P

Seriously_Individual - August 11th, 2003 at 08:35 PM

I'm just sick of being followed home, every secong time a go out at night i get followed home

i have only been pulled over once though, i was lucky the cop was going the other way cause i was doing 20km over the limit.

11CAB - August 11th, 2003 at 08:43 PM

Hey Chris, if your kombi was one colour you might have a better chance...:vader

Seriously_Individual - August 11th, 2003 at 08:53 PM

Leave my awesome paint job alone lol..... i'm getting there........ slowly

11CAB - August 11th, 2003 at 09:01 PM

:P
Did you get it running any better?

Seriously_Individual - August 11th, 2003 at 09:04 PM

I'm getting it towed down to southside tomorrow. Hopefully wont cost me too much lol.

72TWINCAB - August 11th, 2003 at 09:07 PM

Bummer Seriously. Pardon the pun, but I hope it's not too serious.

Blue65 - August 11th, 2003 at 10:17 PM

No, I seriously can't afford to pay any more damn speeding fines. The last time I got one was at 10pm - I was driving on a deserted industrial section of Middlebouragh Road. The road sloped downwards. And my speedometer went from 40 to 50mph. It was completely deserted and it was an industrial area.

There was a hidden cop car at the top of the hill. They stopped me and slapped me with a $200 fine and one demerit point.

I can't believe Victoria didn't vote out Bracks - Doyle promised a saner speeding system and all the media pansies ridiculed him.:vader BAH!

Bugged Again - August 11th, 2003 at 10:50 PM

Here's the most memorable encounter with the Newcastle constabulary

Late at night driving between Maitland and Newcastle in my Fiat with sister at side. Outside maitland was followed by a commodore, he turned off i kept going.

Outside Hexham followed by commodore again this time with 2 guys Interflora signs on the side, dual lane road 80 zone. He kept overtaking us and then slowing to 70 kays. So i did what every young guy in a fiat would do I'd pass him again. This went on for 10km.

got to the Shortland turnoff, 2 lam\nes turning. lights red, had to stop, commodore inches from my bumper.

i said f... this, this guys a wan...er lets get out of here. lights went green car in front stalled then got going so i overtook him in the inside turning lane, weaved bertween a couple of cars and got to the front of the cue before the lane merged into one. thougt i had the bastard.

next thing i new he passed the cars behind me, then the blue lights flashed from behind the grille
Set up and busted

Got done for speeding over 30kays, illegal turn at traffic lights, failing to use indicator when changing lanes and a bald tyre. 11/12 points and $350.

Went to court i got off on the bald tyre and changing lanes but still lost 9 out of 12 points. Funny thing was I really did have a bald tyre

Starbug - August 12th, 2003 at 10:22 AM

Thats really harsh bugged again.

so the cops can drive like complete knobs just to peeve someone off enough that they take "diversionary tactics" only so they can bust you.

f***kers. Seems cops will do anything stupid just to get in front/a bust.

SKEWtYpe3 - August 12th, 2003 at 02:55 PM

is it true that Vic cops ( i dont know about other states) have to meet a quota of the amount of fines etc per day/week??
Basically do they have a $ amount that they have to fine ppl with per week?
I heard this somewhere and wondered if true
anyone..............?

Flying VW - August 12th, 2003 at 06:31 PM

I was driving down the road from my parants place when I was about 19 and there was a DunnyDoore PARKED with its High Beams on. So I flashed my lights but he left his on, so I thought take this and put mine on High Beam. Next thing I know, it's a cop car and he is turning around to catch me. So I went around the Block, to be honest I thought I could out run him and go home, but I wasn't really speeding incase he did catch me. I looked in the mirror and he was really going for it side ways around the corner so I stopped.

The Fat pig Wanker Punched me in the stomach as soon as I pulled over and got out of the car. I fell back against the Boot of my XE Fairmont and when I stood up again he hit me again.

He was a Dick Head it was out side my parants house at around 8.30 at night on a Saturday night. As soon as he hit me I started yelling "stop hitting me your hurting me" to get some attention from my Parants. When I heard my Brother and father coming from the gate I hit him in the nose and tried to tear his name Badge off but I just tore his shirt buttons. (they were strained anyway) I also kicked the VN commys right hand Head Light in when he locked him self in the car and got on his radio. My Little Brother who was in the Army at the time was keen to kick the Coppers arse.
Mean while mum called some more friendlier Cops.
I had a girl friend in the car and a Sticky beak neighbour for witnesses.
I beleive that stunt cost him his Job.
But the shitty thing is I still got booked for failing to Dip Head lights.

The only good thing I got from it was a chance to punch a Cop, looking back at it I wish I punched the shit out of him.

amazer - August 12th, 2003 at 07:22 PM

My experience with police has always been, straight forward. In my youth I was an idiot and probably should have had more trouble than I did. (just driving offences) I had an accident before I had a licence when I ended up in someones front yard. If there were kids playing I would have killed them. But the police didnt give me any grief, just a ride in the back of their van. Even now its a rare sight to see me sticking to a speed limit, but I dont go crazy and my cars dont attract attention. My one and only experience with a Victorian cop was most pleasant as I should have lost my licence for doing more than 30 kays over but he let me off 29. I even have friends who are D's.

zac_smits - August 12th, 2003 at 09:54 PM

Yeh. As an L plater (only by 4months), i've been pulled up 5 times but have never been booked. i've had to stop a 3 breathalysers, and because i was in school uniform and driving such a nice car, the cop didn't realise i was a learner. looked quite shocked really. first time i got breathalysed i even got to keep the tube that you blow in.
some cops are good (like the one that pulled me over after i drove out of a pub without lights on) and others are bad (like the guy whol tailgated me, but i knew he was a cop caus i saw him book some1 5 mins earlier)

Craig Torrens - August 12th, 2003 at 10:37 PM

Blue 65
what I find funny, is not the cops giving up, but the idiot drivers not pulling over to let them through !!!
lucky that you had a lot of idiots on the road that day !!!!!:o
