Hi
the throttle cable [which I have a few spares] usually always snaps off near the carburetor...
Go to an electrical shop- dick smiths- KMart etc and buy a packet of large electrical connectors..
these are made to join two large wires together [in a house not in a car] You stick both wires in the open end and screw in the two grubscrews...

Now take one of those connectors out of the packet...
screw the two grubscrews out...
take the plastic cover off and throw it away...
screw the two grubscrews in slightly

now You will have a round brass piece with two grub screws and threads...
push one end of the connector onto the end of the accelerator cable and from the other side push in a piece of stiff wire like a coat hanger wire...
then tighten both grubscrews...

cut the coat hanger wire to about 4 inches 100mm and slide it thu the accelerator linkage piece in the carby..
if that piece has dropped out...
just wrap the coat hanger wire around the carby arm...

now drive away...

cheers

LEE

I will post pics later

Hi
You can actually buy a repair kit which has a round piece of steel in two thicknesses
one the size of carby throttle wire and the other the thick bit on the end of the carby wire .. [bit that snaps off]
and a clamp similar to the one I described..

so You can fix the cable without going to the trouble of replacing the complete cable...

Kit or cable are similar in price... lol

actually the large piece crimped on the end of the cable wouldn't snap off it was just a few mm long and ONLY right at the end of the cable

cheers

Micks also sells a combination cable that has a few pieces to make it fit anything from a 2lt Kombi to a beetle
