Kombi Fire in Mascot on Wednesday Evening
65standard - September 24th, 2011 at 07:55 AM

What a waste of a Kombi. According to news reports in the Daily Telegraph, it took the Fire Brigade half an hour to put the fire out.

Amazing how well magnesium burns once it starts.

That's one less air-cooled VW on the road. Not a good way to go.

yeah - as you see the flames come inside an unswallowable lump forms in your throat :(

At that stage you know there is no hope

I think I would be too distraught to pose for numerous photos with my burning car to appease the media!

Ouch!
Just turns your tummy looking at them.

Poor sod......i think we should instigate a "buy a drink for the bloke whose kombi burned in Mascot" fund x

BURNING MAGNESIUM WHEN WATER HITS IT....

Sadly most VW fires could be prevented easily.

I feel safe knowing I have correct size fuel line less than 3 years old, and no fuel filter in the engine bay, no fuel barbs that are able to come loose, and correct battery under the back seat in the Beetle.
