First I must say it is good to see someone on this forum who can spell colour!

I am sure Lee will have some contributions?

Personally I like an industrial light grey or satin black.

engine bay colour is a determining factor. Mitchell

hellbugged - October 30th, 2011 at 04:02 PM

Black black or black...hide the wiring as best you can and some functional chrome accents

matberry - October 30th, 2011 at 04:43 PM

A lighter colour is better in my opinion. It shows up any leaks better than black does.

I've always prefered colour coded to the car

But black and chrome go together nicely

coletrickle - October 31st, 2011 at 07:10 AM

H don't forget to tell your mate to make sure the tinware fits correctly(I know u know)but all I seem to do Lately is fit missing/incorrect tin!black, chrome, chrome chinese, colour coded or oak or beech it's all shit if it don't fit like a stock vw it's worth the time to make it fit right!especially with summer comming up.P.S. Surfboards are ready for pickup

Joel - October 31st, 2011 at 08:40 AM

Pffft tinware's for suckers....

Checkerplate and rust is where it's at.

And yes the morons actually drove it like that....

Always liked the look of the 356's where they had satin black for cylinder head tins, f & rear plates etc. but then light gray for just the fan shroud.... on the Super's possibly ???

But then in my mind very hard to better a 356 in almost any way !!!

:tu:

kombibob - October 31st, 2011 at 09:16 AM

Nothing like the look of a standard 1600 painted red with some yellow highlights ;)

BeetleJuice - October 31st, 2011 at 09:21 AM

Black is neat and functional!..Having said that, each to thier own!

mikew - October 31st, 2011 at 12:34 PM

Depends on the engine bay I think, mine I colour coded the same as car until I painted, found it was too much and used white as the sides of the car where white!
Like the grey pic above!!

I use satin black enamel, looks factory, then dress the rest of the motor up.

YIKES
FAN SHROUD.
LEE

h - November 1st, 2011 at 05:33 PM

great pics loving the RED job
my mate is diggin the bright paint, kinda summery he said :tu:
Lee did you just paint the seeing side or the whole fan house like the behind side? - was the question posed,
as my mate thinks only to paint the bits you see..
I said he was crazy but he reckons he can save on paint n with the left overs he can paint up the brake drums..
I reckon he mad as he runs factory stoko skinnys
anymore pics so I can show him the right way to go..
taa fellas :tu:
