not sure about NSW, but in victoria, cant have any visible rust at all.

Blue70 - August 14th, 2003 at 06:02 PM

what !!! SERIOUS ??

not even surface rust on the edges of wings etc ?? :puke

baybuscamperkid - August 14th, 2003 at 06:22 PM

havent checked it up, but believe nothing visible at all, hence the lack of rat-look cars with recent rego's

jeee sus !!

Whats the thinking behind that then ?? Cars rust....pure and simple....... I don't think mine would pass a rego then !! :)

:)

Well in Qld is if you are unlucky to get someone come out to the car and view it they will pick on the rust factor but if you dig/cut it out and then put bog/putty in it thats fine

The only real time that someone comes out and checks the cars when you put new registration on it is when the engine and vin numbers do not match to what the car was previously registered with

I see !! people come to you to check the car ??! Or do you have to go to a local station ???

Sorry for all the questions....but I need to know....future reference etc.. ;)

I had my bug MOT'd last month ( the yearly inspection - cars in the Uk stay with the same reg. plate their whole lives unless you get a personal one )

I'd just fitted my carbs, timing was far too advanced ( only a short journey ) I had far too much brake pedal travel, a rocker box was leaking onto my muffler so there was smoke everywhere :o no front licence plate either.... PASSED !! bonus ! doing my brakes this weekend ! ;)

Ya can pick up a dodge RW for bout $20, i did mine properly though, then got my backseat modified so people could actually sit in it. I had a fair bit of rust, but the guy said that he'll pass it if i will go and get rid of the rust, so he was cool.

I drove a '78 Mk 1 Fiesta that had a dodgy MOT.......sawdust in the gearbox.....a beanbag proping up the drivers seat......950cc........my god......I could almost see the angels following me.........my mate ended up stacking that into a parked SAAB in the snow !!

In Victoria you can get RWC with surface rust on panels. No structural rust or holes in panels allowed.
If you have someone who wont pass your ride for surface rust, then they don't know the guidelines very well.
Rat look is fine.
Ask the RWC guy to speak to his area supervisor if he doesnt understand this. :D
