fuel problem CAIRNS
beetleboy88 - December 20th, 2011 at 11:32 AM

Hi guys. Wondering if someone can help me out or point me in the right direction of someone who can lend me a hand. Car was 'fixed' with a fuel issue about 2wks ago but broke down last friday with what seems to be the same issue so it wasn't exactly fixed at all....

All the mechanics around town seem to be closing down over xmas and new years or are just too busy to look at it.
Black smoke exits the exhaust pipe when i eventually get it going however it doesnt get too far (500m or so). I have been told it may be flooded and the carby may need some attention?

If someone could please help me out let me know ASAP. I'm lost without my car and it looks so sad sitting out the front of my house :(
Thank you and Merry Christmas to you all!
Quin

ohh and the guys who 'fixed' the problem are closed until the 9th of January. they are also the only 'professional' VW mechanics in town. Cairns sucks when it comes to VW supplies and services!

Townsville is worse...need more info:I'm assuming it was done at Werners VW....so what did they do??? If you can't get it to go ova Xmas, put some lights and decorations on it and no one will know.....:starhit:

black smoke could it be a leaky cylinder head gasket letting oil go on top of the piston and burning off?

black smoke is usually to rich i would point the finger at the carby having a blocked canal in the body it self you could try taking the cartby of and getting it to a compressor but first take all the jets out this sounds scary but they only o back in 1 way
use the compressed air to blow through all the jet holes and see if any are blocked other wise borrow a carby and try i assume it's a standard setup
good luck

as mick said no one here in townsville your lucky you have someone up there that sees themselves as vw people just so you can buy of the shelf hahahahahhahahhahahaha as for the the flooding make sure the choke isnt sticking and as greedy said blow out the carb removing all the jets or spray carby cleaner through it .............

cheers guys. I'll check out the carby (not that i'll have any idea what to look for haha) and see if it looks blocked etc. back to work on the 3rd so as long as shes working by then I should be right lol
