Hi all,
Anyone got one of these in here?
http://vintagespeed.com.tw/SportShifter/SportShifter-main.html
Thinking of getting one for my panel van squareback. They look pretty good, would be good to hear some feedback.
Thanks.
In my opinion they are as good as a Berg in shift quality and feel but with only one shifter design availabe, you don't have the luxury like Berg to be able to custom fit to suit your style/seating position. They are cheaper though . For your late type 3, I believe the shifter will end up around 3" rearward of stock due to being bent not straight .
OK, thanks for that. Gives me some food for thought.
we have one for the 69 we are building, we have not fitted it yet but it is really really well made
available NEw from VVDS in Sydney they will be open on Wednesday 02-9789-1777
Merry chistmas Clint, like matty said only problem is it's only the one style of shifter.Burrelli on here fitted a 14 inch extra bend berg with 40% Throw.Very comfortable shifting with longer extra bend.I'll send you ritchies number you type three perverts need to stick togeather! You gonna be good for the pistons and pedals car show in the new year?
Thanks for all that everyone, appreciated.
Col, yeah keen for that show for sure. Let me know a date once it's set. Anytime after late feb suits me.
Most likley march/April will catch up in the new year
I got my shifter a few weeks ago. It looks amazing! Ordered direct from factory in Taiwan and special ordered serial number 1969 for the Squareback
panel van. Tried VVDS but they couldnt accommodate my request for a special serial number. Will be fitted once the car arrives this week. Can't wait
to try it out.
I am also heading to Taiwan for business soon and will visit Vintage Speed's factory. Should be cool to see.
Looking forward to your show as well Col. Keen as.
Why did you want a custom serial number may i ask?

Ok yearh i thorght so i was just woundering what numbers you would put on there? like what do they correspond to?
I would like custom serial number too, If you can let me know how ur shifter goes i might get one if they good.
From Dylan
Yeah they already come numbered with a 4 digit serial number so I thought why not have 1969 since that's the year model of the car. Will let you know how the shifter feels once its installed. The overall finish looks great.

I was in Taiwan for the past week & dropped by the Vintage Speed factory. MT from Vintage showed us around the factory & his collection of
cars. It was really cool to see some VW's over there & to have a chat with a fellow enthusiast.
MT runs a tight ship over there & the production lines were very professional. He tells me a Type 3 exhuast system is in the works as well,
looking forward to seeing that one.
My shifter will be getting fitted this week on the panel van. Will be good to see how it goes.
Had my shifter fitted today. I gotta say it's fantastic. Really solid & a great feel. Makes shifting so much better than what was in there
already.
Positioning I felt is spot on for me for the Type 3. Very good feel about it in every way.
Really happy with this one & would recommend to anyone out there. I am happy I went for the shifter with the serial number of 1969 as it makes for
a nice touch I say.
Looks Great!!!
Only 1 problem, your steering wheel is on the wrong side
