Kara_11 - August 17th, 2003 at 12:00 PM

Hi everyone.....:)

I'm new here and just wanted to introduce myself.....my name's Kara.....and I'm an alcoholic (sorry, had to do it....I'm not very good at intro's.......not very original apparently either!!!)

Well, I'm yet to buy my first beetle, I'm currently looking and I'm meant to go and see it this weekend......it's at a Brisbane Mechanics (European Auto Repairs) and I'm just wondering if they're very good and whether to trust them. I know nearly nothing about VW's so I'm just wondering if anyone has and thoughts on the matter.

Well, again, Hi.......

talk to you all later....

Kara* :D

Grey 57 - August 17th, 2003 at 12:03 PM

welcome to the forum Kara and congrats on a fine choice of auto. Anything VW that is.
Plenty of mail about what to look for in a VW on here.

Kara_11 - August 17th, 2003 at 12:09 PM

Thank you......yes, I'm rather impressed with my choices as well.....:D

I seem to have wanted one since the first time I saw one (Gradma had a white one when I was little.... :)) .....Good choice for a first car I think.......

Kara_11 - August 17th, 2003 at 12:11 PM

Yes, well, it also appears I cannot spell, which is nifty...... :P

I believe that should have been 'Grandma' *laughs* ok, well, I really should be off.....

Shani - August 17th, 2003 at 12:12 PM

Just thought I'd pop up and say Hi and congratulate you on your fantastic taste in Automobiles :thumb
Hope it all goes well with yours, don't know anything about the mechanic so I can't comment there :)

Mrs M - August 17th, 2003 at 12:32 PM

hi Kara

Well glad to sea nother Learner Dubber on here and in Brisbane

I only joined a little while ago myself but we have had VW's for just over a year now and found every one of them have a personality and everyone of them is different in so many ways

We started with a 1976 VW Beetle (orange) convertable whilst still owning that bought a 1973 Type 3 Square Back (mutard) then sold the Convertable and bought a 2000 Beetle (yellow) we now own that and a 1974 Kombi (orange).

I think we are going to stop here for a while then once the new Kombi is released then trade the Yellow Beetle on that

If you need any help of that i have found out that you just need to ask for help and someone will point you in the correct direction

Here is a pic when a few of us went camping up at Bribie Island last year

helbus - August 17th, 2003 at 05:46 PM

Hi Kara,

Yes you will find that we are all a very helpful and enthusiastic bunch.

There is a fun book you can borrow or buy to get into the know of VW's whilst still being able to speak layperson terms.

John Muirs 'Idiots Guide to the Volkwagen' is a great read and will also explain a lot of things in not too technical terms. If you do get it and read at least 5 pages a day you will become a VW learned soul in no time.

I am sure Mick Motors will be able to supply it. They are a forum sponsor.

Midlife crisis - August 17th, 2003 at 06:50 PM

Welcome to the site Kara. I have been out of VW's for a few years and only just got back into them - and I'm loving it. If you have a problem or a question (no matter how silly you may think it is) there is always someone here to help.

Welcome! I'm still a nube and have only had a bug for about a year, however my family and friends have a long history with VW's. What year bug are you thinking of getting?

jenz58 - August 17th, 2003 at 07:40 PM

Hi Kara:)

Welcome.

Do you have anyone who can check the VW out for you before you buy it?

Post some details here about the beetle and the guys might be able to give you some feedback/advice possibly, if you need it.

Maybe someone from up there/or from a VW club has the time to go look with you?

These are only thoughts:sandrine

Beetles are very sweet rides:cool:kiss

Enjoy

Thought I would join everyone else in saying Welcome To The Forum.
I used to live up your way but I am not familiar with European Auto repairs.
But I can recommend Micks Motors up there have purchased things of them for my bug & they even COD anywhere.
There are lots of teriffic VW people living up that way so if you need anything, I am sure someone will help you out.
Don't be scared to ask.
As all of us go on cruises/events/etc together, most of us on here no each other so when you do decide to buy the "special" vw let us know.
We would love to hear about it.
Fingers crossed for your "great" buy.
Judy (o\|/o)

Kara_11 - August 20th, 2003 at 10:30 AM

Thanks for the welcome guys......

19th girl huh, I can live with that......in reply to a couple of the posts, I think I'll let the beetle at European Auto Repairs go, I don't know much about them yet and I bet there is a better one lying just around the corner (hopefully literally!!!!) I don't want to get ripped off, so I'll keep having a bit more of a look around.....

Again thanks heaps......and I hope that when I do eventually get my bug, that I can join you on these cruises.....:bounce

Well, I'm going to keep on reading the posts over the board and hopefully learn something new.....maybe cut down on the stupid questions that will for sure pop up in the future.....:D

*laughs* catch you all later.....

Kara
:)
