Don't feel un Australian driving your VWs today
1303Steve - January 26th, 2012 at 10:27 AM

Hi

Don't feel un-Australian today as most air cooled VWs were made in Australia by a foreign owned company, just like Ford or Holden.

We now have other companies in Australia that followed VW here like Bosch, Hella, VDO etc.

So happy Australia Day

Steve

There were Aussie cars at one time, Lightburn Zeta, in the sixties and the "Aussie six" before the war

Mine's been Australian built at least twice, once at the factory in Melbourne and once by me! :D

Happy Australia Day to all my fellow Dubbers!!!

actually the vw beetle was the highest Australian content car built in Australia during the 60's. It had more Australian built parts in it than the corresponding Fords and Holdens.....
