What size thread on the oil pressure switch?

Just need to know what is the thread size for the oil pressure switch on a T1 engine

from memory its 1/8th tapered pipe thread [ 1/8"inch TPT]
that is why You use teflon tape or pipe sealant on the thread
and only do it up till it doesn't leak...
keep screwing in and the block will crack.. YIKES
You can buy fittings to screw into it... its a common thread..

mmmm, don't think VW was imperial pre WW2 
The senders are a tapered 10 x 1, but I'm not so sure the case is tapered.
1/8 BSP is very close but will damage the thread in the case if used.

Definitely M10x1.0, as Matt says. DON'T use 1/8 gas [BSP], unless you have a spare crank-case.

and threads are tapered so you DONT use tape.

That is what I have been told as well. They reckon it is too easy to crack the case if you put tape on it, and as you said, because it is tapered, it
is not needed.

agree thread type should be M10x1.0 pitch but even if it is tapered it won't guarantee it wont leak. Thread tape is not the best option but I would
definitely use a good thread sealant such as Permatex or Loctite. Remember that the oil is hot and under pressure so it will weep through threads
even if they are tapered. The only way to eliminate leaks is to use a good quality thread sealant.

Loctite make really good teflon thread sealant, that is resistant to nearly everything. Don't use retainers though.

I tape mine but then again my cars dont leak oil so maybe I'm doing it wrong I also cover my push rod tube orings in aviation cement it doesnt seem
to matter if theyre German ,mexican ,brazilian or whatever they still dont leak great stuff
