Upgraded Clutch Cable?
XXX-1.8T - January 31st, 2012 at 02:39 PM
Every year i snap my clutch cable grrr.
Maybe its because its a Daily and im always stuck in stop start traffic
My mechanic says this happens because im running a Kennedy heavy duty clutch so is there a way to get a strong clutch cable?
Maybe from a Porsche?
What else can i do?

Try a genuine German cable.

Yes, I agree,
THE HEAVY DUTY CLUTCH is probably causing it..
the new brazillian made cables probably aren't the best quality either when You see how much they sell for...
I'd try Mat's suggestion..
go with a locally made cable from Vintage VeeeDub
can't be any worse... lol

Another thought - there are different length levers on the shaft for the thrust race, where the cable connects and adjusts. If yours is a short one,
there will be more pressure on the cable to move it. If you can get a longer one, the better leverage will make it lighter and put less stress on the
cable.

I would get some one who knows what there looking at to check it all out from front to rear
SOME THING is not right if there only lasting a year
I had a similar problem on my car
turn out to be the clutch fork arm on backwards and not allowing the adjusting nut to move freely

Yes
they are supposed to pivot...
not bend back and forth...
that is why they snap...

Take your clutch arm cut it and extended with good welding. Or try a v8 boat clutch with a crimping threaded part on the end. Someone suggested that
to me a few years ago. I bought a he German cable. Problem solvered
