What do you think would make a good vw show/festival?
I can only speak about our scene up here in QLD, but i think we need a show right near the beach or some where that would attract the public as well. Have spoken to a lot of people after dubs (vw/nonvw owners) and most missed dubs or didn't know etc.... I think a good show that is well set out could also help small buisness such as some of our sponsors on here, food vendors.... Could something be tied in with the festival of surfing that is happening on the goldy next month???
Is Valla enough, lets here what you think.

In Sydney, Boris' Picnic Day is right by the beach at Dolls Point, on Botany Bay, and gets a huge amount of people passing by. Fantastic day - when the weather is sunny.

Make sure you join your local VW club and help them organise it - public liability insurance is a must nowadays.

Qld also has dyno mania, vw Warwick which is show, cruise and drags, plus gold coast shows. Some like me aren't into the show scene like we used to be since the resurgence of the drag scene as basically anybody with a vw can race and quite possibly win something unlike show and shines.

Action Day by the VWDCQ is at Manly on the water, a nice venue.

I didn't know action day was still going. That use to be a good show well set out. Yeah the drags sound like the go ecspecially Warwick seems like they have everything in one. Is Warwick run by a club? I think the Sunnycoast could hold a big event but not sure if there is any clubs up that way! This is just my thoughts but i think certain club like to segregate themselfves from everyone else.

Whilst the next VW show in SE Qld is no-where near the beach we still try to make it a good fun day for everyone that attends....

Will you be comming to the Gold Coast Dub Club's show and swap on the 6th of May? We'd love to see you there!

R :)

Just a thought on this thread.
We have an annual Hot Rod weekend here in Yamba that has been running for over 20 years. Last year we had over 350 Hot Rods. The main street is closed for display, as in Nambuucca, on Saturday morning.
Yamba is about 2 hours south of the QLD border, so an easy run for many.
Yamba was voted 'Australia's No1 town' in 2009.
Maybe there should and could be an annual VW run here.
We have plenty of Motels and caravan parks, plenty of parks for show and shine, plenty of places for a day run for lunch etc.
It would probably require a club to co-ordinate it and I would be happy to assist, but I am not in a position to run it.
Feb and June are two quiet months in town but there are many other options.
Perhaps it could start off as just an annual weekend away without the 'organised events' that take time to make happen.
Happy to show any interested clubs the benefits of Yamba.

Your thoughts please.
