Injector and Wiring loom fail GT Diesel
GTMac - April 5th, 2012 at 09:14 AM

My 08 Golf GT has crapped itself. Driving along and car just died. Diagnosis is burnt out wiring loom and failed injectors at an approx cost of $5k. Each injector is between $750-$950 depending on type used. After searching web it seems a common problem and recalls or "customer satisfaction programs" in the UK are undertaken by VW.

Has anyone else had this problem and what resolve did you get with VW here?

It seems possibly VW Australia keep quiet until a customer comes in otherwise why mention anything! Typical. Suggestions or advice on solving would be much appreciated.

Cheers

Umm, pretty sure Frosty had something similar happen with his Passat TDi... and even that there was a happy ending....

EDIT - Yup - see his thread at http://forums.aussieveedubbers.com/viewtopic.php?tid=92672&page=1#pid862243

Warranty ?

Hi there, I had the same problem with my passat , Check out the vw watercooled forum in the "growing list of injector problems" I was fortunate to have it covered by warranty even though It was 150 000km (50k over) they originally quoted $4900. Vw tweed heads were great to deal with as I had it service there since new. The guys there told me that vw aust wanted to fix this problem over time as a full recall would have been far more expensive for them. This problem was over a 3 year period 08,09,10 passat, golf and transporter.
Thanks
