Hello Again
IanJ - April 5th, 2012 at 10:55 AM

Thought I'd better check in as my project is starting to pick up again.
I bought a 914 last year from QLD and shipped it to WA with the intention of regoing it here then starting a little project.
Well work and family got in the way and the car has been gathering dust since.
I've been lurking here checking out some of the conversion threads and looking at some of the cars for inspiration.
I know it's not strictly a VW but hopefully you wont boot me out.
My plan is now to go with a WRX conversion. There are a few already done in the US so I have a fairly good idea of whats ahead. A set of 911 suspension and brakes (from a 911T) are on their way from the US and I am about to order a few more bits n bobs to help ease the way.

Anyway...here are some pics of the car the PO took. Hopefully I'll have it running around some time soon and I'll be sure to take pics as it progresses.

well F**:crazy:k me! you have one of my dream cars. Keep that as long as you live! or give it to me

you should get Raby to build an engine for it, he does the best engine for 914. wont be disappointed.

I did think about a getting him to build something but the draw of a conversion is too strong (sorry) :D

Plan is to keep it for a very long time. I've wanted one of these for a while. A guy I knew in the UK had one that used to see lots of track work. The chassis showed bigger beasts how it should be done. So hopefully with the right 'tweaks' it'll be a giant killer.

vlad01 - April 5th, 2012 at 12:25 PM

yeah but with his engines the 914 was the ultimate giant killer, killing all the 911s quite easy, sounded great too, and only 2.4L  Not sure if he does them anymore?

perhaps you could just dig into his suby program and be the first to have a Raby suby 914 if no one else has beat you to it.

I can't wait to get my own Raby power plant one day:spin:

By all accounts he's not doing kits but enhancing some bits around them to make the subaru engine more VW friendly (He has a thread somewhere about manifold mods). I'll try and dig it out later.

vlad01 - April 5th, 2012 at 02:57 PM

No he's doing full kits, full bolt in suby engine and tranny turnkey kits. he has done a few? so far and one for his first type 4 turnkey customer.

his not offering parts, just complete turnkey bolt in kits. Although a lot of it is unannounced and the detail are secret atm.

All I know is they are a suby/type 4/porsche hybrid engine bases on the suby platform.:tu:
