Today the wife was driving the beetle and it decided to spit a spark plug.
She diagnosed the problem on the side of the road, called the RACV, they said they cant fix it. The car gets towed to our VW mechanic.
The RACV allows three taxi vouchers for the day, so my wife could still continue to do all the stuff she had to do for the day.
I ring the mechanic, he fixed the problem on the spot, and I get a lift down there and pick it up, and he didn't charge us anything.
Must have been a bitter plug or something.
That's interesting. My aunty's Bug undid it's sump plug all the way and spat it out on the road. She noticed the oil pressure light and switched it off straight away. When she walked back along the road, she found the plug sitting there. Nothing wrong with the thread, it screwed straight back in. Had to get someone to bring her a bottle of oil and that was it!
Hmmm I once spat an oil filter off a Capri while out for a thrash and had to rebuild the motor - Oil goes quick with out a filter....

I had a ten year old Mazda Tribute, it spat a plug stripping the thread on its way out. Ugly and expensive.
I sold it and bought a 40-odd year old beetle ..... Life is good.
Unwound it'self. Probably a crack in the head? The threads were fine, the plug went back in.
yeah sounds like a cracked head, when it gets hot. POP!
What sort of plugs are you running?
I grabbed a set of NGK.s once & my 1500 kept spitting #3 out. Put a set of Bosch plugs in & never had a problem since.
Couldn't tell you why.
